A Dutchman says to a German: "So we're playing Argentina on Tuesday". Says the German: "Funny, we're playing them on Sunday"

One for the purists. Argentina are better but haven't unduly bothered the Dutch. Dutch transition to counterattack has been ineffectual. Dutch keeper Cilessen seems full of confidence. Van Persie looks out of sorts again.

Let's hope for a more open second half, but I'm betting on a single moment of brilliance by either Messi or Robben deciding this one 1-0.

for sure. The first time I went to Brazil, I arrived on the night of the 1990 World Cup final. I then had no conception of the importance of the event. That night, there were fireworks and celebration in the streets of Rio. Someone said to me, you know why they are celebrating? Argentina lost the World Cup. When I was there during the 94 World Cup, they attentively watched every match Argentina played in and rooted for the other side. Even independent of soccer, people would say "I like foreigners, just not Argentines."

I guess they used all their subs in the actual game this time.

But they had no more subs because overrated Robin Van Persie's tummy was hurting.
