I'm watching Up w/Steve Kornacki and they are discussing Portman as the gop's possible best hope in 2016.

The moderator brought up SS Marriage as a barrier (since his son came out/married(?)) and a guest said &quot Portman) believes he can navigate a primary because he is still pretty socially conservative" ... and my immediate thought was:

"Yeah ... just not in the areas that affect him; he's a typical conservative ... advocate homophobia, until your son/daughter comes out ... oppose abortion until your daughter gets pregnant (by a Black guy) ... advocate for long mandatory minimum sentencing, until you go to jail."

ETA: {I know the second part is unrelated to your post ... Sorry.}

his answer is always standard Republican boilerplate. He doesn't think even a smidgen outside the box. Electing Portman to president wouldn't be much better than electing Ted Cruz.

The Party of No is amazingly consistent. They hate everybody except the wealthy.

Doesn't it take forty? Are the other three Senators Democrats or something?

But you cannot shame them...they will get big donations from the financial industry for their effort and that trumps any shame.

Writing them does no good, they listen to Donors, not Texans.
