(45,806 posts)For some reason, and I can't imagin what, the media seems to LOVE any Texan who "might" be president.
I don't believe he has a snowballs chance because he's become a joke to most of the American people...even the Pubs, but HE thinks he can do it. Seeing the Pubs who appear to be running, I think we're in for another Pub circus the same as last time. I still remember watching many of the stupid debates those 11 fools had, and they were like watching comedy theater. The sanest one of the bunch was Mittens, and thak god HE LOST!

(5,739 posts)I may not like Rand Paul or Paul Ryan, but behind their actions I can understand that there is thoughtful critical thinking. They may come to radically different conclusions, but their thought process is not that much unlike my own.
Rick Perry on the other hands is an absolute slobbering moron.

(21,925 posts)like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, Rick Man-On-Dog Santorum, George Macaca Allen, Bobby Jindal, Marco Rubio, Jan Brewer, George Bush, Dan Quayle for example. I think the question should be reversed: what Republican fool is the media not propping up?

(37,364 posts)border state security and them damned hordes of little kids trying to come across it and steal our way of life. He's a tool that keeps controversy ginned up and helps the GOP party operatives make people numb to facts and sidetracked until Jebbie can come along and pretend to be the grown up. We are working up to a coronation and another Bush v. Clinton race--something that the political operatives and media are salivating over. They'll be able to relive the 90s.

(58,758 posts)The 2016 Presidential run looks like it could be another Repub bloodbath. They're scrambling to find someone, anyone with an R after their name to make it look like '16 might be competitive. If it ain't competitive, people won't watch their coverage. If people don't watch, ad revenue goes down and they lose money.
Perry's just the latest fool they've latched onto. Remember 2012. It seemed like every cycle in the primary season, the R's had a new 'front runner.' It was like they were testing to find someone who was competitive. In the end, the Pres race was pretty predictable.
Right now it's about future ratings IMHO. As of now, I have a feeling most people are in IDGAF mode about presidential politics, and ratings are sucking because of it. In the other thread it points out how Sunday morning talk shows are losing ratings and posits it's because of too many Repubs on the air. Possible, but maybe people are just getting tired of all the faux outrage and extremist bullshit.

(402 posts)For profit media does what their chamber of commerce advertisers want them to do, all stories will have a slight or heavy slant toward their true customers business. This is why even 50% of Democrats hate unions and feminist, they are a perceived threat to business so media demonizes them and unfortunately even liberal Americans are not skeptic enough to fight it.

If he was selling used cars in Splendora like he should be, he'd not be on your TV speaking as if he had longstanding authority in the State of Texas.
