Indian IT firms are heading for a fall

India's IT companies are now learning.

Three of India's largest IT outsourcing firms, Infosys Technologies, Larsen & Toubro InfoTech and Tata Consultancy Services, are involved in lawsuits filed against them by current and former employees.

The lawsuits are a problem for each of the companies. But taken together, the cases are a major threat to the Indian IT industry in America.

India's IT firms are dependent on American businesses for about half of their revenue. They can't operate in this country without work visas, such as H-1B and L-1 visas.

Thus the allegations by employees of visa misuse and harassment have broad implications and are attracting federal investigators and congressional oversight.

Sure they can, they just have to hire Americans. Back when I was still operating under the delusion that I could continue a career in the field, I called a developer that I taught and given a reference to before, if he could point me to someone in his new company (Infosys) because I was looking for a job.

He laughed, hung up and I never heard from him again.

But wait, I'm certain that it was his programming superpowers* that were the reason a mere mortal, such as myself, isn't "qualified" to do those jobs.

*A partner & myself had to spend hours of our own time teaching this "top tier graduate" of the awesomely better Indian tech schools such arcane cyber-knowledge as the mod and how to use it.

5. not sure i understand what you're saying but

i do think that those in these indian firms have picked up on the view in this party that it's 'open season' on white males, and that no matter what they do, the party will be silent because the target group is not protected

7. sure they are - but the traditional demographic group was a factor in the target

engineering/tech, tended to be white males from blue collar backgrounds more than law, medicine or business (who have powerfull unions like AMA, ABA etc)

and i think the tech sellout is rationalized as 'relieving (non upper class) white males of excess privilage'

that's how the 2 and 2 adds up to me, is a heck of a coincidence if it doesnt

the religion of globalism as practiced in this party is sold as bringing everyone equally up, when in reality, they are taking nearly everyone equally DOWN

i have to admit, it's brilliant - take out the middle and working classes, rake in the bribes, build up the 1 percent and spin it as 'promoting equality'

As I said in another thread, it was stupid for non-whites to watch white males "get relieved of their excess privilege" - case in point: because it also resulted in the locking out of a lot of minorities from access to the tech industry. I still don't see many blacks or Hispanics in tech now, does anyone else?

Amid Indian IT firms' concerns over restrictive U.S. visa policies for their employees, a top U.S. senator has assured that he is working on a bipartisan bill that will reform immigration laws and allow more Indians to come to the U.S.

Influential senator from New York Chuck Schumer and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid met Indian American hotelier and chairman of Indian-American Democrats Sant Singh Chatwal at his Manhattan hotel here March 23.

During the nearly hour-long meeting, the three discussed India-U.S. bilateral relations, with Chatwal raising concerns of Indian IT corporations regarding problems faced by them in obtaining work visas like H-1B and L1 for their employees.
Reid and Schumer expressed appreciation for the contribution made by the growing Indian American community to the American economy, saying concerns regarding the visas are being addressed and taken care of.

11. Anyone know the deal with Infosys posting huge number of job openings on Dice?

They always have a ton of jobs specific to my area posted on Dice, are they gathering resumes to show the effort and then bringing in H1b's that they claim to be an exact match to the job requirement.

Also, have heard of a few cases of people going back to India then encountering major delays when trying to return. One guy on my project has been stuck for three months because our project is wrapping up and he can't prove long term employment.
