In Memory Of Trayvon Martin - an original song

I wrote this song yesterday and recorded last night to express my feelings about Trayvon Martin's murder. If anyone out there with a better voice or band wants to make a better recording, feel free to do so but please credit IMOTM2012 as the writer.

In Memory Of Trayvon Martin by IMOTM2012

Trayvon Martin didn't make it home last night,
He was hunted down and killed cause he didn't look right,
By a neighborhood bully with no badge but a gun,
Scaring local kids is his idea of fun.

It all started when T was walking home,
With some skittles and a drink and his eyes glued to his phone.
A guy we'll call Z had his eyes glued on T,
Thinking he was watching the crud of society.

T took notice, of this predator watching him,
He needed some advice so he called his girlfriend.
She told him, "Just run, it'll be alright.
Just get home soon, I know you don't like to fight."

Z just wouldn't let his new obsession lapse,
Even when the police, told him to let it pass.
He wanted to fulfil his donut shop cop fantasy,
So he got out of his car to pursue the enemy.

Trayvon Martin didn't make it home last night,
He was hunted down and killed because he didn't look right,
Just walking home, from the store, there's nothing to confuse.
What would you do if you were in his shoes?

Z surprised T as he cornered him alone,
"I know you're up to no good kid," T hung up his phone.
He questioned why Z followed and continued to molest,
Z just lunged forward for a citizens arrest.

T had to react quickly to fight off his attacker
He still was waiting for this guy to give him basic answers.
T grabbed him and he threw him down, He pinned him to the cold wet ground,
He slammed his head into the grass, to end this scuffle fast.

Z pushed T off his body to take the upper hand,
Stumbled to his feet to make his final stand.
T cried and pleaded "Help" for 30 seconds first,
But Z aimed and he fired making Trayvon's chest burst.

Trayvon Martin didn't make it home last night,
He was hunted down and killed because he didn't look right,
Out of the darkness his life was thunderstruck,
Now mom and dad will never get see him grow up.

This all jump started, a media reactor,
To vilify Treyvon and destroy his good character,
While ignoring all of Z's past troubles with the law,
and his clear path of violence that follows his final straw.

Z's only hope is a claim of self defense,
What was he defending from, T's words or his fists?
Either way a bullet doesn't bring civility,
When your hand's holding a gun, its your responsibility.

Stand your ground, with Jesus on your side.
Instead of turn your cheek and walk away with pride?
It used to be that murder was a frowned upon solution,
But half of our sad country is obsessed with more, and more, and more, and more shootin'.

Trayvon Martin didn't make it home last night,
He was hunted down and killed cause he didn't look right,
Now his name and face will live on as a symbol,
While his killer's soul is forever caught in limbo.
