Shouldn't they pay for it themselves. And what about controlling chloresteral, can't they just eat less fat. If they want to take medicine for it why should an employer get the bill.
Why should employers support lifestyles.
Yes, it's about birth control.

(33,579 posts)Elective, that's it.
But I guess God likes hard men and abstinent women.

(7,904 posts)I think both should be covered.
As diabetic who enjoys intimacy with my wife I will most likely be eyeing the little blue pill in the future.
I know Viagra is a drug to hate and ridicule, but many people need it.

(33,579 posts)I was saying if people claim birth control is elective, how could they not say Viagra is thesame., or more so.

(7,904 posts)I just wanted to make it clear that I am not really one of those people that thinks men who need Viagra should be ridiculed.

(2,682 posts)if men chose to take Viagra for their limp dicks, shouldn't they pay for it themselves? Why should employers support their lifestyles?
So, shouldn't men and women be treated equally?

(16,199 posts)Some people just have high blood pressure via genetics. Please don't try to turn this into "I'm paying for fat people to be fat" because many of them have valid health causes of obesity. It's not as simple as diet and exercise.

(33,579 posts)Chloresterol.
No I wasn't. It was sarcasm to point out that birth control should obviously be covered as these illnesses are.

(7,410 posts)We would all just pay out-of-pocket for everything and not have to rely on an employer's health plan because medical care would actually be affordable. Crazy, right?
Universal from Uncle Sam.
What a concept!

(7,410 posts)I kid, I kid, that would be awesome if everyone was covered at no cost.

(33,579 posts)Though similar to Medicare or other national plans.

(7,410 posts)Premium is $9600 a year, I only have to pay $2400 of that though with a $7,000 deductible. I could pay $4800 if the premium and have a $3500 deductible but it's about a wash.
I think my 91yo grandma's Medicare supplement/prescription premium is about $250 a month.
Best I've ever had it is when I and the family were on TRICARE through the military, that program costs DOD a fortune but is awesome for those enrolled.

(33,579 posts)If GWB didn't make Part D a give away to the Drug Companies?
We'd have typo pay for it somehow, but their are plenty of plans around the weorldf to copy.

(9,796 posts)Unsurprisingly, there's now a Catholic organisation trying to get cert to bring a SCOTUS case saying they can say no female employee may have BC even if they pay for it themselves. The floodgates this has opened effectively mean that, if you can claim it's part of your religion, you can now opt-out of most laws.
One more reason I'm glad of the NHS. BC is free from even the usual small charge for filling a prescription on the NHS for teh simple reason that paying for BC is cheaper than paying for maternity leave, abortions and so on. At least, until the bastard Tories finish destroying the NHS anyway.
