The family of evangelical Christians that owns the Hobby Lobby chain of crafts supply stores is planning a sprawling, $800 million Bible museum in the nations capital, just blocks away from the National Mall.
The New York Times reported that the Green family flush from their victory before the U.S. Supreme Court want to leave their mark not only on the nations laws, but on the capital city itself.
Earlier this summer, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-to-4 decision that the company is within its rights to deny women employees insurance coverage for health costs related to contraception. The Green family pled before the Court that providing such coverage to women would violate the familys freedom to practice the Christian faith as protected under the First Amendment.
Thusly the Court, currently led by Christian conservative Justice John Roberts, struck down a key provision of the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare which mandated that employers provide women with birth control coverage as part of their employee health plans.

(6,960 posts)What a tragic history.
For the 'chosen people' of the all-powerful god of the universe, the Hebrews lurched from one catastrophe to another.
I guess I fail to see how following this god and 'his' directives is something we would ever want for ourselves.

(5,049 posts)C'mon Hobby Lobby - let's step up to the plate. You can easily double or triple that amount - right? Once you've sunk all that cash into this white elephant we can send protestors there to get right in the face of anyone who wants to go inside. After all - it's our duty to try and convince these poor souls about the horrible mistake they about to make.
Maybe we can get a 24 hour "cooling off" period to help them reconsider the mistake they are about to make...

(39,215 posts)he died. There is a mural on one hall that portrays the history of the hospital. About half way into the mural you see John and Jackie Kennedy. Keep going is Lyndon Johnson and his wife (Medicaid) and then at the very end is President Obama (ACA). I was very pleased that they and the programs were acknowledged.
