295 innocent lives lost is all that is confirmed. Can we a take a break for an hour or so to mourn?

Last edited Thu Jul 17, 2014, 03:12 PM - Edit history (5)

Can we begin the hate speculation later? Leave that to the usual haters.

DU should be a sanctuary from hate, only reason I try to stay here is because hate is recognized and hated.

___________________________________________________________________

EDIT: (after the hour) - The speculators and media armchair assassins should read this:

"Fox News host Greta Van Susteren sharply criticized Fox News correspondent Todd Starnes for "very bad taste" over tweeting petty attacks on the president in response to the deadly crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

Starnes has tweeted that Obama isn't "interested" in the crash because it doesn't involve "beer or golf," "Russia bracing for a severe hash tag from the Obama Administration," and "Obama won't comment on Malaysian jetliner crash until he's had a chance to read tomorrow's paper."

In a post on her blog headlined, "NOTE TO FNC's TODD STARNES: THIS IS VERY BAD TASTE, 295 PEOPLE DIED," Van Susteren wrote: "I was just sent a Mediaite article with these tweets on it. I don't know Todd Starnes (he works in NYC), but I do know he works at Fox News Channel and so do I. I don't like his tweets. They are very bad taste. This is not the time to be snarky or some pathetic attempt at humor. Let me repeat... 295 people died."

Doesn't justify picking apart someone's verbiage to make sure your ideas are the only ones heard. Sadly this is the way of too many liberal places online. I know that atheists are shit on out in the real world, I am against that. But that shouldn't translate into bullying and correcting people's words here, that's the wrong way to go about maintaining respect, because you are showing no respect.

There are families who have received the worst news a family can get right now. Their lives have changed forever, it's hard to imagine the shock of learning that you have just lost a loved one, perhaps more than one, in a tragic way.

Whether the A in atheist is capitalized or not isn't the point. Being patronizing and condescending regarding others beliefs does not shed a positive light on atheists. Remember, you may be the only atheist they have ever met, so to speak. You sound like a miserable individual. and that just makes me feel for you.

I imagine it's not very difficult for the rational mind to hold more than one thought, or the heart to hold more than one emotion simultaneously.

So I'd hazard that one with a normal, functioning mind may rather easily both speculate on, and be saddened by, at the same time.

That one person may be unable to do so is little reason to believe that all are unable to do so...

http://news.yahoo.com/maylasian-plane-crash-ukraine-russia-153426322.html

A Malaysia Airlines passenger plane was reportedly shot down near the Ukraine-Russia border Thursday killing all 295 people on board, an adviser to Ukraine's interior ministry said.

Both government officials and pro-Russia separatists fighting in the region denied responsibility.

An aide quoted by Interfax said the total number of dead in the crash was more than 300 and includes 23 U.S. citizens, while an Associated Press reporter at the scene reported seeing at least 22 bodies.

In brief comments made in Delaware Thursday afternoon, President Obama said the White House was aware of reports of American fatalities and was working to determine whether there were U.S. citizens on board flight MH17.
