Proof everything on TV is not based in fact at this time.
They put him on the air...
He called the host a dumbass, typical looney fashion.

(37,364 posts)since this is coverage of an event in which several hundred people died. Anyone who claps that fool the back and chuckles with him is just as much of a jerk.

(270 posts)The backstory was that he was a member of the U.S. military who saw the event in person, went back to our embassy in Kiev, and called NBC News. You have to be dumb to believe that guy and put him on air.

The caller was supposed to be an eyewitness who saw a missile hit the plane and was in the Ukrainian embassy. He said "The plane was hit with a blast of wind from Howard Stern's ass." How stupid are they?

(23,720 posts)I guess Chrystal Ball (what kind of cheesy assed name is that?) thought she was interviewing an eye witness to the plane that was shot down in the Ukraine. It did get my attention when I heard the interviewee say to her "boy you're a dumb ass aren't you?"

(1,301 posts)...I think all reporters scrambling to get exclusives on these stories and sitting around speculating often come off as idiots, no matter who they are.
That being said, Krystal Ball is not an idiot. You apparently are not very familiar with her. If this is the only time you've seen her though, I can see you jumping to that conclusion.
AlinPA
(15,071 posts)it was! He sounded surprised and was right in saying that she was a dumbass.

(1,301 posts)I heard it live and caught that at the time, but not everyone did. Even the OP didn't hear that part, as he commented to that fact on a prior post of mine.
The fault lies with the person who let the caller on in the first place, falling for the outrageous claim that he witnessed the missile hit the plane from inside the US Embassy.
She was handed that guy live, on-air. The thought probably never occurred to her that she would be given a call with a prankster on the other end, so it's not surprising that it didn't register what he actually said.
But hey, you're welcome to your opinion of her, I just think it's a bit harsh.

(24,544 posts)and incoherent question. His response was gibberish but she seems to have not realized that and followed up with a really dumb question.
Edit: Never mind. Just realized that according to the stellar witness, the projectile was "from Howard Stern's ass" so she really should have known what was up. She probably just didn't understand what he said because it took me two listens before I got that too.

(18,402 posts)some never-grew-up, infantile Howard Stern fan makes a dirty joke. Ha ha ha. Not.
How stupid is MSNBC anyway? Do they screen their calls at all? Can someone just call from Pocatello, saying they are former military brass currently in Ukraine, and they just put you on the air?
I don't know what is more stupid, or pathetic: the caller or the network. But how low and crass can you get. Not funny.
