We are none of us living in calm safe countries. Sorry. And I will keep faith with where I am. Agree with you that the world view is full of violence and pain and what looks to be collapse of common sense and order. Have been in a week-long study of Egypt this week. One presenter reminded us of Indonesia and the long tumultuous struggle there for order. They have had many presidents under a new democracy and now are making headway. It feels as if we do not have time for patience, and yet we must have patience with each other. I just sent an email to the White House to express dismay over the invasion of Gaza and hope you will do the same. And we can be glad our presidents are not hounded from office, tho many try! Sending a hug.

I would say this is a slight elevation, but nothing close to WWIII...though if we had some dipshit like McCain in the WH...it might certainly be the most serious time of our lives.

We got lucky when we picked a level-headed, calm (but quick thinking) negotiator. IMO.

he will handle this one too.

I think you mean which, not witch.

Obama is a good diplomat, so that at least should give you a little reassurance.

Plus he has JK to help him as SOS, that is a big asset in the global policy domain.

Humans on this earth have a far less chance of dying from a violent death than we have in all throughout history and prehistory:

There are unfortunately still pockets of people that haven't got the memo.

Things seem pretty good here. People of all races and creeds hang out, go to parties, take the metro, buy the daily baguette. Something had happened down south of here, but it's not dominating the news.
