Principal Writes Incredible Letter to Students Regarding Standardized Test Results

After receiving their standardized test results, students at the Barrowford Primary School in Lancashire, England received a letter from their principal Rachel Tomlinson. The letter, posted below, reminds students of all the things a standardized test doesn’t measure.

This is so true, and you wouldn't know it to hear all the talk of standardized testing.

I was not aware that these tests were being used outside of the USA. For some reason, I thought that other countries were much more evolved than we are, at least these days.

Yes, privatization seems to be the trend, and apparently it is happening in other countries as well. But I think the standardized testing is more about breaking unions, getting rid of tenure, and more blame on teachers for low test results. If you look at the private, charter schools though, you would think that the PTB would want no standardized testing, since so many of them are way below the average in scores on these tests. I would expect them to want to get rid of anything that can measure their results against the public schools.

they must convince the public it needs to be done, and they are trying to do that by going after unions and blaming teachers. Once they break the systems, people like Bill Gates will be ready to roll in and make some more money. He is into education "reform" big time.

the these privatized schools are much better than the public schools.....and that is failing miserably. I do realize that they have the biggest megaphone, so they are able to make the most noise about failing public schools, but we have to keep beating our drum too. People need to be aware of the dismal failures.
