(59,440 posts)Artie S, the bad cousin, managed to get the majority of the board to vote to fire Artie T, the awesome CEO that the workers all support. Artie T really takes care of the workers while Artie S wants to sell the company to the highest bidder and hired 2 people to replace Artie T. One of them is a guy named Gooch...the same one who destroyed Radio Shack.
The workers have been rallying all week since Artie T got fired and inspired customers to boycott the stores, which we have. Artie T also made a generous offer to Artie S to buy him out. Artie S says he is looking at all offers. The workers say they will not work for anyone else but Artie T.
The Teamsters attempted to come in and organize but the workers refused. They are doing this on their on. They are totally committed from baggers to top management.
I learned today that other supermarkets in the area have donated water to the demonstrators and Dunkin Donuts has been delivering coffee, etc in support of the workers.
That's it in a nutshell.
MB workers have set up a website for updates.
