Actually it's usually too much and I end up picking some movie I hate, which or course I stop an hour into and then I play the movie I actually wanted to watch.

You can really see how Jackie Chan built on Bruce Lee's talent at physical comedy in martial arts.

Here's my review of that gem:

Besides, even if you do manage to freeze frame Basic Instinct at just the right moment, it's not as if it is an HD image anyway.

I can't remember much of anything about it, aside from the most publicized scene.

Some highlights... (If you'd call them that?)

Whatever else Mr. Verhoeven winds up being assailed for, with a film that is as violent and misogynistic as it is sexually frank, he hasn't pulled his punches.

Or maybe they have: Madonna is an obvious model for this rich, controlling woman who turns her sexuality into a form of malice, deliberately mocking and inverting ordinary notions of heterosexual seduction.

Hostility between the sexes is an essential part of this film's AIDS-era escapism, with its suggestion that the possibility of physical violence is what gives sex its greatest element of danger.

"Basic Instinct" includes male and female frontal nudity, profanity, graphic sexual encounters, extreme violence, frequent obscenity, references to masturbation, voyeurism, bondage and the use of cocaine as a sexual aid.

I certainly see a few parallels... It seems we have been down this road before.

She's rich and dominant, he's weak and easily manipulated. "Nine and 1/2 Weeks" is more comparable and based on a woman's real experience, but that was also a situation between two adults.

Makes them quite comparable, it's kind of an interesting idea I'd love to do some more work on it.

and the stories are completely different. One is about a serial killer who manipulates people with sex and other ... whatever it is, I guess about sex, a young innocent woman discovering sex with a worldly rich man (quite conventional). "Nine 1/2 Weeks" is about that psychological/sexual dominance/submissive stuff.

Smoking cigarettes in that little white dress, getting away with being a diabolical serial killer -- she was perfect in that role.
