On January 20, 2009, concurrent with Barack Obama’s inauguration, Republican leadership publicly announced their intent to crap all over the country and blame him for the stink. Having failed in that endeavor they are now determined to bring him down through impeachment. It matters little to them that he has committed no offense that rises to the impeachable standard, it matters even less that the country and all of its citizens are dreadfully harmed by their unrelenting refusal to provide the legislative leadership with which they are tasked.

At some point the Republicans’ oft claimed but rarely seen love of this country should override their abject hatred of this particular president, that would be true patriotism. Instead, our veterans will continue to go wanting, our poor will continue to have less to eat while corporations will continue to revel in gluttony, our roads and bridges will continue to crumble, our schools will continue to deteriorate. Time and effort and money that could not be found for such issues will suddenly appear in abundance for impeachment. Because, you know, Kenya.

They hated Clinton just as much, if not more. As long as conservative fraudcasting (talk radio and Fox News) is allowed to distort the picture, things won't get better in this regard.

5. It's true that they hated Clinton and stooped to ridiculous lows trying to destroy him. I think

for a lot of Rs the fact that President Obama is both black and not from the South adds an extra special double layer of hatred on top of their usual hate for whoever they lose to.

8. It is not hatred of Obama.

It is hatred of a representative democracy. They want a fascist oligarchy pure and simple. They are Ayn Rand Objectivists and are representing the 1% only. They don't want women or the poor or minorities to have any say in government. They want governmet for the 'producers' and everything they do is to further that end. Obama just happens to be the latest pothole in the road to that goal.

The overarching evil is the fistfuls of money that private interests lay on politicians. That's what at play here. If they take command of the "wheel" it's gonna be privatization of EVERYTHING! And the Rethugs are just marking time until they can sell out EVERY federal function so the buyers can rape the federal coffers. THAT'S what is playing out here. They've been BOUGHT. They don't CARE about what we want or think of them - they DO NOT CARE. We keep losing site of this by niggling over every little confrontation or skirmish. Those are WASTED fidgits! WASTED! Christ - McConnell said it flat out..... their single mission was to stymie everything the Dems and Obama might try to do. Did we not HEAR THIS?
