Having read the whole thing, it appears that her husband was the original target of the grilling-in-the-front-yard arrest, and that she was put in the choke hold when she physically tried to stop the cops from arresting her husband.
Still.

A seven-months pregnant woman released photos on Monday that she said show an NYPD cop putting her in a chokehold after officers accused her and her family of illegally grilling on the sidewalk.
The images, pulled from a cell phone video of the incident, shows what appears to be an officer with his arm around the throat of Rosan Miller, 27, as he tried to place her under arrest.
Officers showed up at a Bradford Street in East New York home at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, where they spotted Millers husband, Moses, grilling on a public sidewalk before asking him to relocate to the back yard, cops said.
The man refused to hand over his ID and began to walk away before cops tried to grab him and place him under arrest, cops said.

(19,497 posts)Eric Garner died in police custody in part because for several decades the NYPD has doggedly enforced smaller, seemingly innocuous "quality-of-life" crimes. According to Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bratton, the NYPD will continue to strictly enforce laws against loosie peddlers and subway dancers. "I can understand why any New Yorker may say, that's not such a big deal," de Blasio said. "But a violation of the law is a violation of the law."
Commissioner Bratton added, "It's important that when an officer does approach you to correct your behavior, that you respect them. That's what democracy's all about."

The Police reacted because she assaulted them:
FWIW, I'm immediately suspicious of any story involving Charles Barron.
