NY cop puts 7 months pregnant woman in chokehold: for outdoor GRILLING???

Having read the whole thing, it appears that her husband was the original target of the grilling-in-the-front-yard arrest, and that she was put in the choke hold when she physically tried to stop the cops from arresting her husband.

Still.

http://nypost.com/2014/07/28/new-chokehold-video-shows-nypd-scuffle-with-pregnant-woman/

A seven-months pregnant woman released photos on Monday that she said show an NYPD cop putting her in a chokehold after officers accused her and her family of illegally grilling on the sidewalk.

The images, pulled from a cell phone video of the incident, shows what appears to be an officer with his arm around the throat of Rosan Miller, 27, as he tried to place her under arrest.

Officers showed up at a Bradford Street in East New York home at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, where they spotted Miller’s husband, Moses, grilling on a public sidewalk before asking him to relocate to the back yard, cops said.

The man refused to hand over his ID and began to walk away before cops tried to grab him and place him under arrest, cops said.

De Blasio: Broken Windows Policing Is Here To Stay

Eric Garner died in police custody in part because for several decades the NYPD has doggedly enforced smaller, seemingly innocuous "quality-of-life" crimes. According to Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bratton, the NYPD will continue to strictly enforce laws against loosie peddlers and subway dancers. "I can understand why any New Yorker may say, that's not such a big deal," de Blasio said. "But a violation of the law is a violation of the law."

Commissioner Bratton added, "It's important that when an officer does approach you to correct your behavior, that you respect them. That's what democracy's all about."

With all DUE respect to the commissioner and his officers --

9. The problem seems to be, the cops arresting people for minor infractions.

It seems absurd that cops can't control a situation involving a minor offense without going off the deep end and arresting people.

I can't find it anywhere and that picture posted in the OP's link doesn't look like a chokehold to me.

Without excusing the response of the Police, she was not put in a chokehold for "grilling":

Officers showed up at a Bradford Street in East New York home at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, where they spotted Miller’s husband, Moses, grilling on a public sidewalk before asking him to relocate to the back yard, cops said.

The Police reacted because she assaulted them:

That’s when Rosan and her brother, John Miller, started slapping at police preventing them from making the arrest.

FWIW, I'm immediately suspicious of any story involving Charles Barron.

I'll take my 5 acres surrounded by farm ground and grass, I can grill anywhere I wish, you guys can have the eastern seaboard and the West coast. I returned recently from a week in metro New England...public transportation and all, one of the first things I noticed was how fresh the air is here....
