(15,429 posts)The House of Representatives has the only constitutional authority to remove a sitting member of the House.
The Senate has the only constitutional authority to remove a sitting member of the Senate.
Once in office, the only way citizens can remove a sitting member of either body is to vote them out of office in an election.

(14,700 posts)Change has to begin somewhere. I personally LOVE the idea. If the totally ignorant voted the ass in, those with a brain and a heart should be able to get him outta there.

(15,429 posts)The portion that needs to be amended is in Article I., Section 5.:
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
Each House shall keep a Journal of its Proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such Parts as may in their Judgment require Secrecy; and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.
Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.
Since this is a power delegated the United States under the constitution, it does not and cannot fall to the states to decide.
