(52,208 posts)assuming we're talking about a democrat, of course.
otherwise, they would have made him a saint, look what they did to reagan.
i agree that there's certainly racism involved, but it's actually because they see the democratic party itself as the party of blacks and "others", and of course the republican party is the white party. they'd hate a while president too. it's just more obvious and more intense when the president is actually black and not merely the leader of the party of blacks and "others".
note also the hate that's been levied against hillary going way back.

(355 posts)he is "half-white." As if having any degree of whiteness makes one of color immune to racism in general. And then of course they will drag out the names of black leaders they like (Ms. Rice, for example) to prove . . . something.

(6,342 posts)Because that's what has been happening with the stock market. The 1% is making out like bandits in this economy while the poor and middle class are being gutted.

(31,849 posts)do you have a pension? Do you pay taxes? If you answered "yes" to either question, you benefitted as well.

(86 posts)Wow that pic looks very attractive.
The stock market will give back some of its gains and remain steadily volatile. That's how money gets made, in a volatile market. July's gains just got wiped out today. I've been waiting on it and positioning to jump in and grab some choice picks. Granted I played a few IPOs and it paid off big but once the market gets so high you have to prepare for it to go to shit. Just the way of things.
It's great that jobs are/have come back but did Obama really create them? I mean did he go to employers and convince them to hire? Did he offer tax incentives? I know employers and most of them are hiring because the confidence in the market is slowly returning and they have to hire or risk losing market share to future competition. It got real ugly there for awhile and we have stagnated wages, less labor participation, and Americans hold less wealth.
We came out of the nose dive, Obama didn't destroy the country, things are slowly getting better than they were in 2008. But when is it going to be as good as 2004?
Mitt Romney would have screwed us completely, so we got lucky, but don't give Obama too much credit. He's done a lot of good, but there's still a lot more to be done and if the Republicans keep shooting themselves in the feet, we might get to see more of it getting done.

Employers don't hire more workers because someone asks them to; they hire more workers because people are buying more of their stuff and they NEED more workers! Bring up the demand for products and employers will hire more people to make those products!
Despite the continuing efforts by the Republican house to sabotage the Obama administration, it would seem that he has managed the economy pretty well, despite the opposition of those who are desperate for him to fail.
