Sinn Fein Partyman says UN should Bomb Israel

<“Well, I’d prefer if the United Nations started shelling Israel,” he told WLR FM.

The party responded by distancing itself from Hearne's comments in a statement, saying “Cllr. Hearne’s comments are not reflective of Sinn Fein’s position on the situation in Gaza. The stated mission of the UN is to foster peace and security.”

Sinn Fein's position on the conflict, according to the Irish news site Journal, is in support of an "inclusive peace process" that includes Israel halting the assault on Gaza, lifting the blockade, and an end to rockets fired from Gaza into Israel.

Hearne, for his part, referred to past IRA attacks against English civilian targets in getting countries to make political decisions.

“You have to get them to the table,” he said. “The English were never coming to the table until Canary Wharf happened.”>

And sadly, I'm not terribly surprised, coming as I do from a nation where an entire party prides itself on not knowing what fucking gravity is...

brains are not a prerequisite for a political career.
