(4,667 posts)They are one of the most beautiful families in the history of the American Presidency.
Seeing these picture of them warms the cockles of my heart.
The girls were always really attractive, but they're turning into raving beauties as they grow up.
I saw another picture of them as a family recently - not this one - and thought the exact same thing.

(36,286 posts)I've never seen so many cute flats in my adult life. I can't wear heels, and it is wonderful to find something besides a plain Mary Jane!
This was the first thing I noticed...a flat shoes girl thing, I guess.

(71,611 posts)Those HORRIBLE "platform" shoes are showing up again, too ... I can't believe how STUPID those ankle-breakers are. Then again, I'm a "Birkenstock guy" and find anything other than Birks and (sometimes) athletic shoes intolerable. Show me a gal in "flats," Birks, or tennies ... and she's immediately more attractive to me. (Sanity is attractive.)

(71,611 posts)I'm a sucker for the "fresh-out-of-the-shower" (or pool) look. I dislike any kind of scent, jewelry, or make-up for myself -OR- anyone with whom I'd contemplate being intimate. Then again, my college sport was swimming ... and I adore damned near any activity in, on, or under the (NOT frozen) water. (I hope to e a sea otter in my next life.)

(2,198 posts)Malia and Sasha are going to be tall and regal beautiful girls. Dad loves his girls and mom. And I love them as a family.

(53,521 posts)I won't be surprised if Malia ends up taller than her dad! She's like a weed, LOL!

(9,893 posts)I think that she turns 14 at her next birthday, and most girls are done with most of their growth spurt by then.
I think that Sasha has several more inches of growing to do.
They're both very cute girls. It won't be long before the beaus start hanging around the White House, as well as the Bo.

(8,053 posts)can't believe how grey the President has become.. but then again, yeah I can.

(18,795 posts)I know two sisters who were - they are 6'1" but would be 6'8", if not.
MADem
(135,425 posts)Tall people tend to have tall children--it's that genetic code at work.
Why would they want to "control" their height, absent a genetic defect of some sort?
tabatha
(18,795 posts)This was medically done and the outcome is all good. One of them was a world famous athlete.
I am aware of another set of parents who were both six foot - at least two of their sons were 6'8".
MADem
(135,425 posts)The Obama girls are tall, and they have parents and other ancestors who are/were also tall. It's not surprising that they would be lanky.
Why do you think they are on medication? That's the part I don't get. There's absolutely no evidence or even a hint of a rumor of a suggestion that they are on any kind of "height mitigating" pills.
Tall parents often--indeed, usually--have tall kids. That's what I learned in biology class a zillion years ago, anyway.
tabatha
(18,795 posts)And there is NO evidence.
I said "I would not be surprised if ....."
Hardly a statement of fact or evidence.
In the case of the two sisters, it would not be obvious to a single person who did not have knowledge of the fact.
MADem
(135,425 posts)Tall parents have tall kids. Blue eyed parents often have blue eyed kids. That's the natural order of things.
I just couldn't (and still can't) get how you would "not be surprised" if they were on height control meds. There's no history of genetic abnormality that we know of in either family. No reason to suspect that they might need medication of any sort, in fact.
That's the leap I am just not getting.

(71,611 posts)... for the first time in many years. Friends in other countries agree and ask me to "please" keep him as President. I've told them "lots of us are trying to do just that." They are EACH role models in their own right. And it'd be silly and myopic to say they're only role models for some of us.

(17,621 posts)Deal with it, Freepers.
I wish I could be there when Malia goes on her first date -- or the first time Obama says, "No daughter of mine is going out dressed like that!". Of course, it looks like he and Michelle already have the dressing thing under control.

But even with four pairs of eyes glued to the ground, there is no denying the beauty of this family and the love they seem to have for one another.

(12,233 posts)Of course, 4 yrs in a house with a gym and organic healthy food choices cooked for you, rather than just coming off the road tours and campaigning where food is grabbed and many events include eating really crappy fair foods and pies don't help any.
