Democratic Leader Congressman Emanuel Cleaver Says There’s No GOP War on Women!!!!

Good News for Women: Dem Leader Cleaver Says There’s No GOP War on You
By: Scarecrow
April 8, 2012

Very good news today, coming from the leader of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver. Mr. Cleaver is concerned about the tone of politics these days, and since it’s unfair for the Republicans to charge the President with waging a war on religion — because he isn’t — it’s only fair that Democrats stop claiming the Tea-Party GOP is waging a war against women — even though they are.

This is a great moral victory for the advocates of false equivalency, not to mention the holy mostly-male warriors who have introduced and/or passed hundreds of bills in state legislatures and Congress to repeal or restrict women’s reproductive rights, rights to demand equal pay, and access to the benefits of government programs designed to benefit millions of women that are being systematically defunded by the GOP’s war on government (sorry).

Also, too, those of you who were waiting for the first Democrat to discredit one of the few effective and totally valid frames that might actually help them win elections can stop waiting. There’s one born every minute. Wonder if he has a mother, wife or daughter to explain this.

Cleaver did everything but grovel before the far right sexist creep Ralph Reed. BBI

It is truly, hard work.

I don't always see all of the articles on the front page of DU everyday.

I just don't and I apologize for my inadquate daily inspection of the DU front page.

Do you have something to add in justification of your comment or do you wish to apologize for the insulting remark?

the Plutocracy's ass, they don't WANT to be handed a gift wrapped super majority. Because then they would HAVE to do something that the people want them to do about the economic status of this country and it's historic inequality of wealth.

IOW, if they were handed a super majority, their excuses would be gone.

Edited to add: This also ties into the Van Jones post where he claimed that the Obama administration and himself didn't know about the extent of the RW media conspiracy. BOTH of these assertions by Dems are unbelievable. Ergo, they didn't WANT to know (or believe) in either the RW media conspiracy OR the RW war on women conspiracy.

isn't it? If someone else could come up with another reason, I'd listen. But nothing else that's been brought up makes sense.

If the people got what they wanted, we'd have single payer - there's only one explanation that makes sense for why we don't have what every other industrialized country has.

If the people got what they wanted, we'd have a plan to deal with climate change - there's only one explanation that makes sense for why that hasn't happened.

If the people got what they wanted, we'd have verifiable voting machines - there's only one explanation that makes sense for why we don't have them, even after what happened in 2000 & 2004.

Etc., etc., etc.

One party, two faces - government of, by and for the corporations.

what DOES he call what the Republicans are doing in Congress and in statehouses all over the country? They're certainly not treating women as intelligent, thinking, PEOPLE being able to decide for themselves what is in their best interests and those of their family. What's even richer is how the same group of people railing against "Obamacare" for getting government in between people and their doctors (even though it actually doesn't ) are......um........getting government in between people, specifically WOMEN, and their doctors.
