New Medicaid enrollments top 7 million under Obamacare

Reuters) - More than seven million Americans have gained health coverage through government programs including Medicaid since enrollment in Obamacare health insurance was launched October 1, the U.S. administration said on Friday.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said 7.2 million new participants in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program by June brought overall Medicaid enrollment to 66 million people.

The enrollees include uninsured Americans who gained coverage through traditional Medicaid, as well as a special Medicaid expansion in 26 of the 50 U.S. states under President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act.

Traditional Medicaid programs often cover only a patchwork of poor individuals, including pregnant women and disabled elderly.

medicaid here in michigan and I wish I was eligible. It seems to cover everything including basic dental.

It would be considered a 'platinum plan' on the private market most certainly.

millions more Americans are being denied healthcare in states where Republican politicians were elected. The self-serving politics notwithstanding, in their insane thinking it is better to deny early treatment at the front end because those states know they can fall back on the Federal govt. The red-state GOP uses extortion politics to extract welfare money from the taxpayers in better managed blue states to pay for their stupidity.

The cost of picking up the tab of caring for all those desperately ill citizens goes far beyond just leaving the workforce due to their untreated medical issues. Without healthcare people become seriously ill at a much earlier age, and those same red states then expect the rest of us taxpayers to not only pay the medical costs, but also the food, shelter and other expenses of their unfortunate citizens.

Why do they get away with this scam???
