Could use a quick assist

I am responding to and grading some discussions from my government class. I try to have sources to my corrections of erroneous information, but sometimes I am caught up short due to sleep deprivation, etc. I would appreciate any assistance I could get with these items:

(I have weeded out the worst of the grammatical errors)

"Obamacare" ... has already caused high costs and regulations.

this law will give 15 million people whom earn enough income to afford insurance medicaid.

Thanks.

3. I have to agree with you--hell, I'd get nailed if the footnote didn't look right! All those IBIDS!!

Now, they let kids streamline their footnotes, and they even have computer programs that will auto-do them for them!!

I can't count the number of boxes of "corrasable bond" paper I used pecking out papers on a portable, manual typewriter...and I was glad to have the damn thing!

5. I agree! Make the kid backup his statement. It's not your job to back it up

That job belongs to whoever made the statement. Make them do the research and prove the point.

Pulling stuff out of your ass or off Rush the perverts show is not scholarship.

6. This is not for one on one with the student

Her "transgressions" involve all of the things that have been said as well as the limited critical thinking. I have dealt with that and responded appropriately. If this was an essay or a research paper turned in, that might be the end of it. However, this is part of an ongoing discussion with other students who are affected by her misinformation.

I am in the position of moderating this discussion and am helped by having this information at hand.

I also do not like the way that is written, but I am sure you can handle that part. What the hell is "insurance medicaid"?

I don't think there can be much doubt about the regulations. That's kinda what new laws do, and there probably are costs associated with the new regulations. However, there are also costs to our current system.

8. "Obamacare" isn't a government program to begin with.

At least using the real name, "The Affordable Care Act", would be a good start to a serious discussion about health care reform. Citing statistics after the word "Obamacare" is always suspect because it signals an ingrained right wing bias.

Would a government class teacher also accept derisive terms like "Voodoo Economics" or "trickle down" when discussing Reagan era supply side policies? Not everyone in a government class is going on to work at Fox news.

9. Here here. I tried to make this point on another thread. You have done it well.

Apparently, Obama refers to it as Obamacare.

I still think that this is a frivolous term. It is always much easier to denigrate something when you can personalise it.

BTW I think Voodoo Economics and Reganomics are legitimate economic theories seeing they worked so well in the nineties.
