I'm tired of the pseudo-Christians and their hate. Most people on welfare do work. (though, I do know of a couple of them that go to any length to not work and play the system)

It's really hard to do anything about too because they go to extreme lengths to claim medical disability and it's very hard to prove that someone is not really disabled when you can't access their medical records. One person I know is a diabetic. She goes to the hospital a lot. (literally went 30 times in 6 weeks) for high sugar. She eats a lot of sweets, does not give insulin, then acts like she has but it is out of control. You'd think they would catch on since they give her fluids and insulin and she gets better and goes home. She uses 4 different hospitals. She will end up getting her disability. You and I would not be able to play that game. We would be humiliated abusing the system like that. I could not go to the hospital almost daily, just to get disability. Couldn't do it.

This diabetes does not stop her from doing anything else but work. She can run around all she wants, has 8 kids at this time, if you include her fiance's kids. She simply won't even consider a life that includes a job for her. Have known her since she was a kid, so I am pretty certain that she is creating her own disability. What should we do to stop her? Take pics of her eating donuts on the way to the hospital? (lol, someone actually saw her doing this)

She is what gives welfare people a bad name. Yes some of them do exists. She lives in a house that is on the 80 percent for her area, drives a nice car, while we live in poverty, drive a car that is on it's last legs, and our taxes pay for her to abuse the system. I mean really she should just go to her doctor but that won't get her the attention she needs.

Oh my, sorry I went on and on.

Fact is, there are always people who will work really hard at avoiding work. If welfare or the safety net didn't exist, they would find another way to scam. INHO, one age old way to do that is to claim that you are a special messenger from God, and please give me your money because Jesus (or whomever).

If she is abusing her body like that, she will likely not live to an old age. One can't just turn diabetes off with a switch, and I'll bet those sugar cravings won't go away if she is on disability. Shame for the kids, though.

It's human nature. However, I survived many years of a severe, utterly debilitating condition solely due to Social Security Disability and a state Vocational Rehabilitation service. Now I make fairly decent money as an IT manager for a mid-sized American manufacturer. And when I look at my tax deductions, I smile. It's actually a privilege and an honor to pay substantial taxes in support of my country, regardless of the very small number of people who angle and abuse the system, because you'll never weed them all out.

They are the reason the republicans are able to act like everyone on welfare or disability are abusing the system. I wish there was a solution that didn't penalize the rest.

yet, this woman has been on my mind, and out it came.

The fake ministers are some of the lowest people on earth. I can't even believe that they even believe in the God they preach about. Everything they do is the opposite of what they are suppose to believe in. I hope they believe in their hell too, coz if there is one, I'm sure they will have a special little corner for them.

What kind of slimeball claims that his 'God' has told him that thousands of (mostly poor) people should send him their money? This kind of scam is vastly worse in its effects than the small number of people who (inevitably) abuse systems in place to ameliorate poverty and assist people with genuine disabilities.

I would love to meet someone like Hagee and see how he would respond to a suggestion that, naturally, his god wouldn't let him get injured in a fistfight with an... ATHEIST! Right?

They feed off the gullible by selling an invisible product, and get rich in the process, and don't have to pay a dime in taxes. We could seriously balance the budget if we tax churches, billionaires, and publicly traded companies.

For his church retreat, complete with a two acre lake for skiing ( except there is a drought) even for him. The church has an Easter Egg hunt out here one day out of 365, for the remainder of the year it is occupied by is second wive's family, they pay no taxes. He also owns a 2000 acre hunting ranch near Bracketville, Texas; tax free.

This is a serious level of hypocrisy. He lives in a big fancy house, twists the intent of Christianity and is apparently too fat and lazy to stand up while he spews his hate filled rhetoric. None of this is "Christian".

It reminds me of something out of one of Al Franken's books in which the words of Jesus are twisted into arch conservative view points. How can people follow such a fool? Someone should look into his family background and see if any of them every collected welfare.

Doesn't get more sordid, does it?

He's a flame thrower about Israel and it's current policies. Books all those fundie tours there.

On a more hopeful note: He's warning his flock about a Blood Moon set for August 18th. Wouldn't it be great if that moon took him away with it? Just 9 more days....

Per his Wikipedia bio, he is "founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas...." Although the church is described as non-denominational, it's obviously Christian, just not identified with any particular denomination within Christianity. His website states, "The mission of John Hagee Ministries is to aggressively fulfill the commission that Jesus Christ gave to His followers to go into the world and make disciples of all people."

I'm sure some DUers think he's not a "real" Christian because of his views. Many of his followers probably think the same of anyone who supports reproductive rights. As an agnostic, I say that Christians can certainly argue about what God wants them to be doing, but it's sterile to make use of the term "Christian" dependent on that argument. A Christian is someone who self-identifies that way.

Hagee should lose his tax exempt status and have to work for a living, you know, digging down in the dirt, cleaning things, sweat pouring off his brow. Hagee does that for 35 years like I have then maybe he would get a little respect. As it stands now, we only watch him to get some laughs.
