Of all of Robin Williams' great work, this movie is my favorite. To me it was a painting, a great masterpiece. Visually it was a rich tableau, but the tenderness of the dialogue, the sweetness of the love story, and the abiding sensitive portrayal of loss and depression touched me deeply. Now the dreams have come for him.

(14,554 posts)I think you have to be in a certain place to ... well, I won't say "get" it, but to appreciate it. It was like a painting, you're right.

(9,126 posts)It explores the ideas even further. I thought the choice to fashion the look of heaven and hell after paintings was brilliant.

(27,670 posts)I've always loved Robin Williams' films (and love romantic movies) and couldn't believe that I somehow missed that one when I found it on Netflix.

(21,088 posts)She and I had lost each other for 30 years, then re-connected four years ago thanks to Facebook. It was the first movie we watched together, on my crappy laptop, lying in bed during our re-acquaintance week. She brought the DVD, I'd never heard of it. It spoke to us more deeply than words can express, and has been a constant presence in our relationship ever since.
Thank you Robin, for all the light you brought to the world.
