"95% of Republican House districts are majority-white"

Not surprising, but this analysis by the Washington Post has lots of good details.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/08/12/95-of-republican-house-districts-are-majority-white/

Significant numbers of conservatives, and white Americans in general, admit to feeling discomfort at the prospect of a non-majority white America. These views are even stronger among Tea Party-aligned conservatives. According to Parker's polling, nearly two-thirds of Tea Party conservatives want to eliminate birthright citizenship, and 82 percent of Tea Partiers say they feel "anxious or fearful" about undocumented immigrants.

Another factor behind Republican recalcitrance on immigration and similar issues is the simple racial math underlying many House congressional districts. According to U.S. Census data, only 13 out of 234 Republican-held districts are majority-minority (that is, districts where white non-Hispanics make up less than 50 percent of the population). That's about 5 percent of all Republican districts. In contrast, fully 49 percent of Democrat-held districts are majority-minority.

..............................................................................

These numbers neatly illustrate why House Republicans can afford to balk on immigration reform, and to talk about things like a "war on whites:" in general, there's very little disincentive for doing so. A sizeable majority of the House Republican caucus simply doesn't need to worry about appealing to minority voters, period.

Thanks to the 2010 mid-terms, Republicans got to re-district. And that used that power to segregate districts by race.

Remember that every mdi-term and every Presidential, but most especially midterms in census years.

Four states are majority-minority as of 2010: Hawaii (which is the only state that has never had a white majority), New Mexico, California, and Texas.[2]
The District of Columbia reached a majority black status during the latter stages of the Great Migration. Although still majority-minority, blacks are no longer the majority as many Asians, Hispanics, and whites have moved into the district in the last decade.[3]
The percentage of non-Hispanic white residents has fallen below 60% in Maryland, Georgia, Nevada, Florida, Arizona, New York, New Jersey, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
All populated United States territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa) are majority-minority areas, and they never had a white majority.
13 of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. are majority-minority. An additional 7 have a non-Hispanic white population below 60%. So half of the top 40 metros have a white population below 60%.
As of 2011, 11% of U.S. counties are now majority-minority. Another 7% are near the tipping point and are predicted to become majority-minority soon.[4]
The whole United States of America is projected to become majority-minority in 2043.[5] With alternate immigration scenarios, the whole U.S. is projected to become majority-minority sometime between 2041 and 2046 (depending on the amount of net immigration into the U.S. over the next 35 years).[6][7]
Minority children will be the majority in the entire United States by 2019.[8]
Minority children are now the majority in the following ten states: California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, and Maryland.[9]

that this is no way to make things safer. The angrier they make the minorities that will eventually take over no matter what whites do the more the blowback. This police brutality is a good example. Do they really think this is going to be forgotten?

Our only hope of peace is for white America to get over it and grow up. Start working together for the common good. Throw the white rethug obstructionists out on their ear in November and start working to rebuild America.

By the way I am a white woman and my extended family includes Native Americans, Africans, Hispanics and us white people. We can and do get along and work together. I doesn't hurt. Try it.
