PHOTO: Howard University Students Respond To Death Of Ferguson Teen

By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published AUGUST 14, 2014, 4:11 PM EDT

The freshmen of Howard University, a historically black college in Washington, D.C., responded to the death of Michael Brown with a powerful photo on Wednesday.

Khalil Saadiq, a member of the Howard University Student Association, organized the photo of students with their hands in the air in order to pay tribute to the teen in Ferguson, Mo., 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by police this weekend, according to Yahoo News.

Megan Sims, who tweeted the image on Wednesday, told Mother Jones that Howard University freshmen were already gathered for a meeting when they decided they "needed to respond to the Mike Brown issue."
