State Sen Tweets 'F--K You' At Missouri Gov Over Ferguson Response

A Missouri state senator tweeted "F--K you" at Gov. Jay Nixon (D) Thursday morning, seemingly upset by his absence from the protests in Ferguson.

Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D), who represents the Ferguson area, has spent time in the city during the protests. KMOZ reported Wednesday that Chapelle-Nadal said she had been hit with tear gas while standing with protesters.

Thu Aug 14, 2014, 10:09 PM
Aug 2014

The governor was at the NAACP meeting on Monday. Ergo He was involved from Monday.

When the governor was at the NAACP meeting, he was unable to be anywhere else at the same time.
Other People at the NAACP meeting were unable to be anywhere else at the same time.

The only issue I had with the NAACP is that they held it at too small of a venue on a street undergoing construction. I drive by it almost every day. I knew the place was way too small. And with Natural Bridge becoming a "Great Street" (a rant for another time), the location was preposterous.

Had they moved the location of the NAACP meeting 4 miles to ground zero, everyone could have been there at the same time, and we wouldn't be having this aimless conversation.

So, several posts from you later, my statement that he has kept his distance still seems accurate. If not, take it up with your state senator.

No one thought he could be in two places at once, so yes, your reply was pointless, as was your original statement about physics.

You keep moving the goal post. My statement was only that the Governor had kept his distance.

First, you denied he kept his distance, saying he had been there. Then you said he did more good at the NAACP than he would have done at Ground Zero. Then you said he could not possibly have been there because he was at the NAACP. A And now, you want me to explain to you why should he have been there. Each time you've been challenged you just move the goal post .

I have no patience with posters who do that.

Point is, he wasn't there, exactly as I said originally. If you want to know why it might have been better for him to be at Ground Zero than at the NAACP, take it up with your State Senator, Sen. Chapelle-Nadal, as I urged you to do in my prior post. My guess is she has more insight into this than you do. Doesn't keep moving the goalpost, either.

Good night.

Aug 2014

My response is "So fucking what?"

What possible benefit would it be to have the governor at "ground zero?" Do burned QuikTrips have secret powers he could unlock?

He doesn't work in St. Louis. He's come here twice this week. He's not like batman sitting around waiting for the next crisis, he actually has other things to do than walk anonymously through a crowd or grab a photo op which are precisely the two basic options he has when going there.

I'm not moving the goal post. I have been, apparently ineffectively telling you as a someone walking distance from Ground Zero that it wouldn't have fucking made a gad damn difference and that his actions on Monday and today are what one would expect from a Governor.

His response was appropriate. His response has been effective.

There are legitimate criticisms that can be made against the governor. Neither you nor Sen. Chapelle-Nadal need to come up with ridiculous ones.

On Edit:

Remember when Ted Cruz the Tea Party Criticized Obama for not going to the border when he went to TX?? I do. I felt the same way then.

Senator Chappelle Nadal is not only in Missouri, she is in your State Senate, serving under your Governor and, as I have said before, probably knows him and the situation in Ferguson a hell of a lot better than you do. And, she has also been in Ferguson.

If you want to understand HER argument, give her a call tomorrow.

There is no purpose for the governor to go. None. The Senator is wrong. She is also apparently rather rude.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons for criticizing Jay Nixon. This isn't one of them. If Senator Chappelle-Nadal wants to make up reasons, that is her call. If you want to parrot them. That is yours.

Moving forward, the various levels of neighborhood/city/state government need to come together. Tweeting "Fuck You" and calling the Gov a coward is not only childish but counterproductive, not to mention showing a complete lack of class.

I have no doubt there are right-wingers who would like the Gov to amp it up and call her a fill in the blank. Escalating the situation solves nothing.

Doing so now isn't a big change. In fact, I have reason to do so now.

I haven't "shed blood" specifically, but I work for the State and take a hell of a pay/benefit cut doing so. Does that count, or are you insistent on on making things false choices, and continue you inexplicable assholish attempt to twist my words?

Then today, hearing that he ordered the Highway Patrol to replace the Ferguson PD, with a black captain from Ferguson, I was thrilled.

I think, possibly like ISIS, it takes seeing the ruthless ugliness of some people to show why civilized behavior is essential. And unfortunately, many pay the price for the lesson.

“Our governor, Governor Nixon, has been absent from the minority community, not for a few years, but for a few decades, and this is inexcusable. And he only comes to the minority community when it’s politically expedient. And now that the world’s eyes are on Missouri… the governor is now here. But he’s not really at Ground Zero. He’s never come to Ground Zero… For that, I call him a coward.”

I have family in the St. Louis area so I was a bit concerned about all this. Granted they live some distance from Ferguson but it still concerns me that Civil War II is happening next door to them. It's past fucking time someone calls bullshit on the Governor for not clamping down harder a bit sooner on the Ferguson PD.

is the picture of that young man lying face down in a pool of his own blood, left there for four hours, uncovered.

First this young man was shot 10 times by people who then desecrated his remains in full view of the community. Almost like a head on a pike. . . or deliberate incitement.

That's what I call crude.

Being rude rarely accomplishes as much as people think it does. Her actions don't further the end goal of getting a peaceful and just resolution. Instead she's assuming the worst and acting on that assumption.

you get tired of unarmed men and women being killed and physically accosted by the "officers of peace' who are supposed to "protect and serve"--BIG sarcasm smilie....maybe, just maybe, you'll start swearing too. But of course, you're too civilized to do something as "crude" as that.

She could use her position to tell why she's angry and make a suggestion, like all police officers wearing video recorders.

How perfectly useless.

It's like when Ted Cruz criticized Obama for not going to the border of TX to discuss the crisis there.

She has a right to be angry at the events, but her criticism is emotional, misplaced, and unhelpful.
