(33,041 posts)first thing I asked when Mom1 knocked on my door, it was her cat and is doing ok.
This sucks

(56,177 posts)That kid needs seriously help...he'll be doing that to people in a few years unless he gets help.

(9,796 posts)If he's very young (like, under six or so), he might just have not realised what he was doing. If he's much older than that, there needs to be an intervention because animal abuse is one of teh warning signs of psychopathy.
Also, someone needs to get the cat away from him and to a vet.

(9,796 posts)According to Dahmer (although how much you trust that is up for debate), he began with killing animals as a child.

(52,172 posts)he had buried some of them and at least one killing was witnessed.

(33,041 posts)she has NEVER and will NEVER be outside without me being in the yard. I thought of all the serial killer stuff right away.

(33,041 posts)Mom1 of the injured cat lives next to him & his family. Mom2, who does day care for the most of the under 12 yr olds on the street is on her way to her elderly moms for the pm, so I would know more tomorrow.

(9,796 posts)But his future development depends on getting him some treatment now. Much older and he'll be beyond reach.

(32,076 posts)it sounds like an epic tantrum and violent lashing out but du seems to think he's a serial killer.

(33,041 posts)I told the kid on the bike next to his mom "there is something wrong in the head of a stronger who hurts a smaller. It is wrong and bad. " His mom, turned towards him and said..."see...I told you"

(33,041 posts)and I will be stopping by tomorrow am...it is almost 6pm here.
That's a big sign. They do it because the small animal can't fight back.

Sounds like a very disturbed kid...

(33,041 posts)injured kitty lives next door, Cat of Mom 1. Doing ok.
The cats' human and the neighborhood-lady (mom2)-who-watches-almost all- the kids-on- the- street after bus drop off till parents get home have already called Children's Services late today. I gave my name and # so if I need to talk to Children's&Family Services early next week they can reach me. Kid and I passed a few words about his teasing MOM2s' dog while the dog was in her enclosed fenced yard. Actually my words' were to the effect of "what the hell are you doing? Leave that dog alone, she is in her yard".

(13,776 posts)To be that sadistic and that angry, ever but especially at that age...
I hope he is fixable... it's a terrible thing to hope that his anger is from a difficult situation at home rather than from an innate sociopathy, but at least the difficult situation at home thing could be remedied (and you'll have done him a huge favor by reporting it). I'm so glad you and the other people have contacted CFS. Please keep us updated; I genuinely feel for you (and for the poor cat), as well as for him. Good luck
irisblue
(33,041 posts)because this is a really quiet street(honest!) in a fair sized city, kids ride their bikes, a few shoot hoops 3 doors down in the set on the street hoop-master. As long as I could walk my dogs, I waved and said hey to everyone. This makes me so sad for the cat, the kid and his parents and worried for the feral colony Mrs Davis has at the opposite end from the kid.

Poor kitty.

(9,796 posts)If he's still young, there's still a chance to reach him so a secure mental facility would be better than jail.
Hopefully, the kitty survived and can be helped by a vet.

(10,953 posts)the kindest thing to do would be for the owner to re-home it to a safer place.
I would not feel comfortable at all having a child like that in my neighborhood. I would be concerned for any pets in the area. You might want to consider alerting any neighbors who leave any pets outside that there could be a risk to those pets. I sure would want to know.

(23,817 posts)know when they are causing pain. The only reason he did this was because he #1 could being bigger than the cat, and #2 because he got some type of thrill from causing pain. Kid needs help.

(14,177 posts)I don't assume the parents are guilty. Someone who has credibility told me most people who are bullies have no reason that can be determined to be bullies. They aren't/weren't abused or neglected, the families at least look fairly normal, they live in good neighborhoods, etc. Yet, somehow they still end up being monsters. So, I would take the kid out for the sake of the rest of the family. They may or may not be a contributing factor in the kids behavior.

(33,041 posts)stapling neon paper in plastic folders to the phone posts on this street, and the next several streets warning neighbors that someone has hurt an animal in the area, maybe under windshield wipers as well tomorrow is a good way to get some fresh air and exercise.

(10,953 posts)A lot of people let their dogs stay out during the day if their yard is fenced in.
So because a sociopathic kid lives in the neighborhood and everyone should be held hostage to his behavior?

(32,076 posts)the child is 6 or 7 and the 'hood ladies are going to intervene. it's not as is the frikkin hells angels are terrorizing the town. eyes on the Bad Seed and some compassion might be called for. Let's not lynch a goddamned six year old for kicking a pet. The rhetoric here lately is so dramatic!

(34,185 posts)Did he hit it with a bicycle or throw them off the roof? Or was it more torturous than that?

(33,041 posts)this is not pretty. Tomorrow isn't gonna be fun......to hurt smaller......not something I can understand
elehhhhna
(32,076 posts)which is good.
may have learned it at home, may have a problem in his wiring/impulse control, maybe being abused himself - must be miserable, regardless.
Sorry, DU, but have we NO compassion for a fucked up SIX YEAR OLD? Wow.

(10,953 posts)the kid is already hurting neighborhood children. Anybody with children that might come in contact wit his kid should also be alerted.

(34,185 posts)Acting toward animals (or humans) when angry or frustrated can be modified, but it takes effort from the parents.
Empathy training and anger management could probably help this kid. Hopefully the parents take it seriously.

(14,337 posts)she saw a group of neighorbood boys try to hang a stray cat from a tree. She untied the cat and ran after them while they LAUGHED at HER. She came home and told me who they were. I called the Local Humane Society and reported their PARENTS. The ADULTS were cited for animal cruelty.

(15,224 posts)All of the up-posts indicating that animal cruelty is a precursor to other, more violent behavior are correct.
Please do not depend on someone else to report this unless you have confirmed their report.
This is serious business. The child needs to know that he cannot do this again. If he's competent, he needs to be punished. If he needs mental health help, he needs that, too.
Please don't let this drop without action. Thank you, and I'm so glad the cat is safe.
