OBEY. - I’m a cop. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t challenge me.

I’m a cop. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t challenge me.

It’s not the police, but the people they stop, who can prevent a detention from turning into a tragedy.

George Orwell

How does one man assert his power over another, Winston?“

Winston thought. “By making him suffer”, he said.

“Exactly. By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.

Police decisions when not in the heat of the moment. I have done just that on a few occasions.

I was in a little different position the times I have filed formal complaints. Not much happened in 2 of the cases beyond a disruption of the officers day by having to report to IA...those IA guys are nobody's friend. The 3rd time I ultimately received a 5 figure apology.

BUT YOU WILL NEVER WIN ON THE STREET

Plus by adding things like violence against the officer and resisting arrest with force, and others you just make it harder for those charges to go away. Comply when being arrested and then there will be less for you to fight when you go to court. Instead of having your friends yell at the cop as well, have them record what is going on with their phones (if possible).

While it is widespread, it's not very often this mindset is boldly put out there in living color for all to see...

Get into a pissing contest with the police on the street and 99.9% of the time you will lose AND give them something to charge you with that more often then not will hold up in court.

This officer seems to think that he is actually the law and the actions of him and his peers are acceptable and just. Quite far from the truth.

Then they wonder why they're not trusted.

I know it is scary for people to be stopped by cops. I also understand the anger and frustration if people believe they have been stopped unjustly or without a reason. I am aware that corrupt and bully cops exist. When it comes to police misconduct, I side with the ACLU: Having worked as an internal affairs investigator, I know that some officers engage in unprofessional and arrogant behavior; sometimes they behave like criminals themselves.

Yet he seems to think people should just shut up and accept all this as a fact of life.

Unless the officer has a legal basis to stop and search you, he or she must let you go. Finally, cops are legally prohibited from using excessive force: The moment a suspect submits and stops resisting, the officers must cease use of force.

Doesn't even realize he contradicts himself.
