In a deadly force scenario, a suspect being armed with a weapon doesn't automatically make the shooting justified. Nor does the lack of a weapon automatically make the shooting a crime. Each deadly force situation must be investigated and the unique circumstances surrounding each situation must be evaluated. There will be times when shooting an armed person will be a crime, and there will be times where shooting an unarmed person is necessary, appropriate and justified.

in a serious combat art actually does make me something of an expert on this. From the first, I was trained not only in what to do, but also when to use deadly force. Basically it was I could use only enough force to defuse the situation and defend myself or others. And no more. In my expert opinion, Wilson used excessive force.
