East Coast: Watching The Tropics For Labor Day Weekend Hurricane (w/forecast map)

The forecast for a new tropical system off the coast of the Dominican Republic is changing and could form into a storm, according to local meterologists and the National Hurricane Center.
"It takes a northerly track," said Jeff Edmondson of WAVY-TV 10. "Some models are showing it could be in this area by Thursday or Friday. That's a big change from forecast models late Friday and early Saturday, he said.
"This is a really tricky forecast," Edmondson said.
That would put the storm in the region or possibly threatening the East Coast for the Labor Day weekend.
The National Hurricane Center's 8 a.m. advisory, issued early, says "This system continues to produce shower and thunderstorm activity, and environmental conditions are favorable for the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm today or Sunday. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is currently investigating the system."
For now, "we're keeping an eye on the tropics and a system that may move up well off the coast next week," said Julie Wilcox, meterologist with WVEC-TV 13.
