http://www.telegraph.co.uk/journalists/bill-gardner/11054488/Foley-murder-video-may-have-been-staged.htmlAnalysts believe the British jihadi in the video may not have been James Foley's killer, although it is accepted that the journalist was murdered
The video of James Foleys execution may have been staged, with the actual murder taking place off-camera, it has emerged.
Forensic analysis of the footage of the journalists death has suggested that the British jihadist in the film may have been the frontman rather than the killer.

(111,254 posts)It was the same thing as the brutal Daniel Pearl decapitation. They were both done post mortem.
Foley's clothing would have been saturated, as would his face and hair, had one of his carotids been cut while his heart was still beating.
I've seen carotids let go. Even with maximum padding with towels and waterproof pads, there is still spray in the room.

(53,032 posts)besides beheading? The videos were made to make the deaths look more dramatic?
I didn't watch the video, and I won't. But did Foley look alive at the beginning of it?

(111,254 posts)He didn't look well, either, like he was ill and near death from something like dysentery.
My best guess says they were garroted before the beheading. They died hard in any case but the beheading was post mortem.

(6,229 posts)The video edit and time lapse is very obvious since they still have the time stamp visible.

(18,184 posts)in the sense that it was so carefully composed.
We have the two main figures against a stark background, the prisoner in a Gitmo orange jumpsuit and the guard dressed like an executioner in a horror movie (and also reminiscent of the famous Abu Ghraib photo of a detainee dressed in black robes).
It was like deja vu from a surreal nightmare sequence in a Cronenberg film, all in color-saturated, high contrast, high definition.
Another thing I noticed, just looking at the stills from this and other videos, is that the clothes are always immaculate: they look clean, new and unused. Also, the focus is always sharp and the images well-framed.

(1,986 posts)Scroll down to video that begins with clip of Obama. Skip to 4:15. No beheading. So why did Youtube blur out this part?
