(81,223 posts)NOT you, trof!!! "Asshole" is the word I thought of when I saw "rand paul is an..." A what? "...an asshole." rand paul would never be a asshole. He might be a Class A asshole. But not a asshole.
He would always be an asshole. And there we have our grammar lesson for today.
AlbertCat
(17,505 posts)But they all need to start with a vowel to work with the "an".
Maybe an "h" as in "honorable man".... but we know that ain't right!
An hoser?
So how about
1. Ass
2. Idiot
3. Amateur
4. Ignoramus
5. Imbecile
6. Inferior
"Inferior"... also being an adjective made think you could put adjectives beginning with a vowel in front of each noun and it'd work.
1. Undeniable Dork
2. Obvious Dipshit
3. Infantile Wanker
4. Unquestionable Doofus
5. Unbelievably Clueless (actually an adverb modifying an adjective)
6. Unmitigated Jerk
We must keep up superior grammar standards!!!!

And I still don't get the Putin-Paul tie in, since none of our pro-Russian Propaganda people seem to be anywhere near any of the Paul posts.

(10,622 posts)In truth I am sure there are Paulbot trolls here, but I am even more sure they are very rare as MIRT does a really good job of nuking them at the door. Some people just need to find a way to smear other posters that disagree with them and all it really accomplishes is making them look bad, others perhaps really believe they see them everywhere, like ghosts under a child's bed, I feel sorry for those rather than angry as it must be very hard to go through life feeling that much paranoia and fear.
I think you will find that when someone pushes too hard to stir the META pot, the hosts handle it well.
So don't take the nonsense too seriously, it is meant to stir shit and emotion and ignoring it gives them no power to do so over you and so is the best response to it.

(10,622 posts)it is always "an" prior to a word beginning with a vowel.
When people use the "a" where there should me an "an" it is like scratching a chalkboard to me, a personal pet peeve.

(18,672 posts)I'm curious as to all the Ron Paul threads on DU lately? So far I've avoided them because he is a joke. I can't imagine any true liberal supporting this twit. He is in no way, shape or form anything close to being "liberal". Republicans are pretty revolting, but Libertarians are much worse IMHO. Most of them are diehard conservatives who are pretending to be open minded, or in truth, they're watered-down teabaggers who are too ashamed to admit to regular people that they vote Republican every single time. Too many Libertarians are self-centered bigots unwittingly trying to bring back feudalism, except they are too dumb to see that they would in fact be the serfs rather than the landowning lords. "Republicans who've smoked pot". Pot on a conservative brain is a damn waste of weed.

He's against foreign military adventures and the lost drug war and demonizing young black men. The only ones against those positions are angry old white guys, and they'd vote for Pol Pot (not that they'd know Pol Pot from good pot) as long as there's an R after his name.

The postwar rise of Randian Libertarianism -- selfishness is good, the only freedom that matters is economic freedom -- is an American tragedy.

(54,369 posts).......because, like the broken clock, he is right twice a day, whereas the others, having no hands or numerals, aren't even that.
Interesting side note: I just got back over here to Europe today, but before I left D.C., I had an interesting afternoon with a friend who is a former Congressman from Louisiana who has served as a rep from BOTH parties, and now does freelance legal stuff for Native American tribes in Washington, that kind of thing.
He said that Rand Paul could sneak up on us precisely BECAUSE he is right twice a day. That is SO many more times than Cruz, Rubio and the other clowns under discussion (in the media, anyway), that he is news for now.
No, he doesn't deserve to be taken seriously, but how many Republican tickets since 1976 deserved to be taken seriously, and yet how many of them won? If he gets anywhere close to the Republican nomination, a billion dollars worth of Koch money will say he does, too, deserve to be taken seriously. Naturally, a billion dollars could convince close to half of our voters to take Bugs Bunny seriously. It's the billion dollars that deserve to be taken seriously, not the candidate they're promoting.
WE know that. At least 47% of our country does not.
