The Atlantic mother who police say lied about her daughter’s cancer diagnosis to obtain donation money allegedly inserted a feeding tube into her 5-year-old’s nose and stomach, according to court documents.
Authorities said Leatha Kaye Slauson, 30, did not have medical training to properly insert the medical equipment.
Slauson was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of child endangerment and one count of distribution to a person under age 18, both Class B felonies. If convicted on both charges, she faces up to 50 years in prison.
She is being held at the Cass County Jail on a $30,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled 2 p.m. Sept. 2 in Cass County District Court.
