Last night, a poster accused me of a felony without supplying evidence. The post itself is not important (I'm not looking to start a flame war), but it was utter BS and it got hidden by a jury, as it should have been.
What surprised me is that it was only hidden by a 4-3 verdict. For an unsubstantiated (and utterly untrue) accusation of a serious crime.
So here's the favor: if you serve on a jury for a post where someone is accused of a crime, or even accused of being prejudiced against others (racist, sexist, etc), can you please think twice about leaving the thing alone unless solid evidence is presented?
Serious charges deserve serious evidence.
Thanks.

(146,351 posts)I'm not seeing the accusation of any felony, either. Lots of duers get accused of stalking. Those posts usually get hidden, but it's not an accusation of a crime. Just bad internet manners. Overstated, I think.

Looks like Manny has accused other DUers of engaging in this same felonious type of behavior....

(43,873 posts)Now, some might say it worked because it correctly hid the post. But it's obvious those who voted NOT to hide didn't base their decision on the content of the offending post but, rather, who the post was directed to.
Let's face it - if you're outspoken on DU, you're a target, either through frivolous alerts or by jurors who won't rule in your favor regardless of the content of the alerted post. I've seen it first hand and others have shown me some pretty stupid jury decisions.

Unsubstantiated accusations of crimes by other DU members should not be tolerated.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
