"SNIP...................
When federal agents pulled out of the ranch to avoid what seemed to be an imminent bloodbath, the militia movement claimed a victory, one that has since energized the movement and led to more confrontations.
In Utah, two men pointed a gun at a BLM worker in a federal vehicle as they held up a sign that said, You need to die. And on June 8, a shooting spree left three victims dead in Las Vegas, including two police officers. That rampage was committed by Jerad and Amanda Miller, a couple who had spent time at the Bundy ranch during the standoff. Witnesses say they shouted, This is a revolution! during the attack. They also draped a Dont Tread on Me flag also used by the militia movement on the body of one of the officers.
What we have seen at the ranch and elsewhere can only be described as domestic terrorism. There would be no hesitation to use the word terrorism if members of a foreign terrorist network tried to jumpstart a revolution by killing police officers or engaged in a standoff with federal agents. The fact that this threat is coming from within our country doesnt make it any less dangerous.
In August, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued an intelligence assessment that echoed the findings in our report, War in the West. That DHS assessment said that violent extremists are emboldened by their victory in Nevada and that antigovernment violence is likely to increase in the coming months.

they have have deep ties to the republican/tea party currently in office too...
anyway, DHS is aware and looking into it *apparently* [they are letting it grow for some kind of political gain]

I spoke with him several times in the course of a week, had 9 acres on top of a hill to sell.
He said he would be deeding the land in someone else's name and paying all cash.
Property had been the highest point in the county, until the county dump, er, ah, landfill grew. It seemed he really wanted the strategic location and even offered me more than asking for it. I said no, something was not quite right about him. Ended up taking a loss on it, but I know I was right.

(53,661 posts)These guys are not dying off but multiplying.
Many want government to go away, that we'll end being ruled by guys like him with their weaponry. People are being trained to accept this.
They also have a long enemies list of other Americans who disagree with them, only think in terms of a war zone.
We've always had domestic terrorists, but they were isolated to the fringes for the most part by media. Now it eggs them on.

(10,716 posts)that's one thing I hear on both sides, that's been consistently drummed into heads for years. I keep a good mental list handy of all the things they do well, as an antidote.

(53,661 posts)That's how many veterans, elderly, children, disabled and poor persons are paid directly or indirectly every single month. And today I found this:
Typical dramatic series and radio show programs require fear and tension to tip the attention span of viewers (or readers) to be stressed and receptive to propaganda.
No solution to problems, and no process offered, leaves a default position of letting heirarchies, such as corporations and theolocrats, take control of what should be rational, democratically decided issues with equality for all.
That's what 'government of, by and for the people' requires. Instead, with negative imprinting and no civics knowledge, we will get oligarchy and oppression. The evil old government won't be involved anymore, and there will be no process of appeal.
Then some squeal about it when it's too late, as no vision existed before, nor was it allowed to stand without being jeered to death. JMHO.

(813 posts)Now I can't link to this, because I can't remember where I read it; it was a month or so ago, but according to a government study, homegrown militias are the biggest terrorist threat to the "homeland." (gawd how I hate that term)
All we see in the news though is ISIS. The MIC is really ramping up the fear for another round of killing American soldiers and innocent civilians in a place we don't need to be. I know some sovereign citizens, they're scary and I just think they have something wired differently in their brains. There's no amount of reason they will listen to. Everything is a conspiracy yada, yada, yada. Dangerous.
