Ohio boy takes unloaded cap guns on school bus

I can understand the appropriate caution due to the recent spate of school shootings, and perhaps this boy should be investigated to find out where he learned such rude behavior. Maybe family services can prevent a tragedy before it happens years from now. However, I find it somewhat amusing that the reporter thought it helpful to point out that there were no caps in the guns. Or that no one was injured:

When I was in the third grade I took my dad's souvenir WWII hand grenade to school. A couple teachers came to me on the playground and asked to see it. After discovering that it was empty with the fuse expended they gave it back. How times have changed since 1962. Nowadays an armed SWAT team response via helicopter would be the likely outcome of such a scenario.

I'm not advocating any 2nd amendment cause here, I just look back and wonder when we as a society changed from playing with toys to the real thing. How did we lose our childhood innocence? Like so many my age we had guns in the house, but no one would dream of taking one to school. I don't think it was because of a fear of punishment, we just saw no reason to do so. *sigh*

When I was this age it would have been funny...or not even noticed. Yep. we just saw no reason to do so. *sigh*

2. It's interesting that it's entirely plausible a kid would bring a loaded gun

on a school bus these days. And the kids know it, too.

3. Six Years Old. Did they come in police ninja suits in an MRAP? Did they kill him dead?

What a fucking joke, I'm with you.

Our world is crazy, the police are crazy, this is a six year old.

Why were some kids shaken? Because the adults are teaching them to be fearful rather than to be rational.

I had a lot of toy guns when I was young, but I never played "hostage situation" on a school bus. LOL

Had the cap gun been loaded perhaps the article would have indicated "a full reel with one under the hammer". I'm just glad no one chimed in yet to point out that he's obviously compensating for a small penis.

6. ". . . but no one would dream of taking one to school . . . "

or dream of taking one to work, to national parks, to the grocery store, to a drug store . . . and certainly not into a bar.

Those have not only become dreams, but every day occurrences for some.

And guess who is watching all of this happen . . . and thinks carrying a gun to school is just fine.
