Republican congressman claims to have committed murder.

orrest Dunbar (D) told the Alaska Dispatch News he had a backstage altercation with Rep. Don Young (R-AK) before their debate Friday night.

When the two were walking near each other, Young said angrily, "You're not from Cordova any more than I'm from Fort Yukon. I had you looked into."

Dunbar said he was puzzled and touched Young on his arm lightly and asked: "What are you talking about?"

Then Dunbar said Young, "freaked out. There is no other way to describe it. He kind of snarled at me and said, 'Don't you ever touch me. Don't ever touch me. The last guy who touched me ended up on the ground dead.'"

1. Bill Maher just dared a congressman to commit murder on live TV.

“Really — let’s have a congressman commit cold-blooded murder on camera, then get up and say, ‘Yes, I’ve made a mistake — I killed a drifter just to arouse myself sexually, but this election isn’t about killing grifters. It’s about working families, with my wife Jenny on one side and Jesus on the other,’” Maher proposed. “And he’d win.”

Sounds like Young was made to order for the challenge.

Not exactly something you want to say when THAT is the reason you are even in Congress to begin with.

Fun Fact: Even though Nick Begich disappeared in 1972, he STILL beat Don Young 56-44.

Don ran against Rep. Nick Begich (Mark's father) in 1972 and was defeated, even though Begich's plane had been missing for three weeks and most people suspected he was dead. A special election was held in 1973 which he won by 51% and he's been in place ever since.

and a complete waste of space. And, honest to God, I have yet to meet an Alaskan who will admit to having voted for him, especially in the last 15 years or so.

I had a friend tell me recently that Don Young had killed a couple of folks, not by his own hand, mind you, but that he had gotten some dude killed. I told him to stop bullshitting me, and pass the weed. But he was dead ass serious. Funny that this comes up. My friend is much older than me and his parents ran in the same circles as our big dudes of politics. Small place this giant state is, eh?

Don may finally have stepped in it one too many times.

Forest is young and hasn't been elected to any office before, but he's smart and has a good resume, so he may stand a chance.

Besides the numerous ethical lapses that repeatedly have brought Don Young to the top of CREW's list, there were the "wetback" comments, the thumbs in the ear finger wave at the hearing honoring the deceased soldier, the semi-assault on the Capitol staffer and now this, which may have finally gotten people's attention.

The R carries a lot of weight, but I see even some die- hard conservatives here are saying he has to go. He's always been an asshole, but I suspect senility at this point. He's 81, after all.

They run candidates who are thieves, adulterers, frauds... I have no doubt that they could run a confessed murderer and win.
