Please will it rain too. All the wild animals are suffering . There is so much road kill around because they'd are scrambling around, crossing roads looking for water to drink.

..... until it started attracting mountain lions. (who go after the deer). I have small pets and couldn't live with myself if they were killed because I put water out for the deer.

The deer and coyotes are still able to find water because they have a large range. It's the small mammals, birds and reptiles that are suffering.

... but it is where the deer and larger animals can't get it.

In this dry heat, I feel badly, it was kind of nice having a watering hole where I could watch not only the birds, but the deer and turkeys (and I think night critters drank there too). But when there were mountain lions spotted in the area I had to re-think. There are larger ponds and such in the area that the deer can go to.

SloWeather.com predicts it will get up to 103 today in San Lius Obispo, CA. Like most homes here mine has no air conditioning. Had the roof sealed with a white coating last year and now the house takes much longer to uncomfortably heat up. It's a good day to make fresh icy lemonade to counter the heat.

Outside chores planned for today have been nixed for another, cooler, day.

It was an unusually warm fog free evening on the coast in Los Osos yesterday for a Red Barn concert, especially for the musicians sweating under stage lights.

Yes, the Morro Bay Harbor Festival is this weekend. The nearest weather station is in nearby Los Osos where it is just a tad under 80 degrees now. Another Los Osos weather station further from the bay is 87. So it's pretty warm on the coast today.

Spotted a squirrel this morning drinking out of a swimming pool. Leaving water out for wildlife a good idea.

44 up here in NE Illinois with a frost advisory for tonight-- but I'd rather have it on the cold side than hot.
Take care, and I hope it lets up soon.
