First off call me and my staff clueless...we had no idea pRick Scott even had a campaign office in our small office building complex. So knock knock knock on the door a few hours agio and this pasty white family of four wearing suits and ball gowns were asking "Where's Rick Scott's office" I responded, "Tallahassee?" thinking it was some sort of a hidden camera show arriving at our doorstep. The female mom snapped "That's not funny." (I should mention we are in Boca Raton so a LONG way away from Tallahassee.) Anyway I said "I have no idea what you are talking about...and asked why they thought it was here." They said it is the right address. So I find out that at the other end of the hallway is the Rick Scott re-election campaign office. Whoopie fucking doo dee.
So this goofball family tells me he's going to make a personal appearance at 1pm. "Oh great," I say to myself. It's going to be a friggin' circus. Anyway so all these weird looking goofy looking Conservatives start showing up and milling around our tiny building and tiny parking lot. The mailman comes and the security detail asks the mailman to move his truck. He said he'd move it AFTER he delivers the mail (which I thought was hysterical.)
Then I decided to get goofy myself. So I took my polo shirt off and have a sleeveless white undershirt on. (They are known by a different derogatory name that if I use here on DU I will get crucified so I'll refrain. But most of you know what I'm talkign about I reckon.) Anyway the one I have on today is a little small. Perfect! So I go walking around the parking lot in my sleeveless undershirt and my fake buckteeth I keep in my office. Oh the stares...it was so funny. I had to bite my lip with my faux chompers to keep from cracking up. I scratched my butt a lot and would occasionally just look at the sky for about 30 seconds. Got to keep the righties wondering WTF?
Then I lost interest and walked back inside to work. Childish behavior? Absolutely. But it was a fun 5 minutes today.

(4,742 posts)I had a work polo shirt on today and I believe it is unprofessional to mix work and politics especially when it isn't my company. We have clients of all walks of life.

(81,238 posts)I appreciate that! I don't do any politicking while wearing an ACIDIC tshirt or any recognizable merch, either. The band has fans from all walks of life. Including the teabagger contingent. Although in their cases, I'd be tempted to dial it back a tad and use the term "tea party members."

(4,742 posts)If it were my company I wouldn't do it...but it isn't my company so I REALLY wouldn't do it. I think Papa Johns, Chic-Fil-A, etc. do themselves and their Managers/Employees/Franchise owners a huge disservice when they must endure the top brass politicking.

(34,136 posts)Leon County is very blue but we have to put up with all the right wing nuts the rest of the state sends us. I wish they'd stay in their native habitat.

(3,208 posts)If they have a campaign office there, is there any chance you could get in that "outfit" again and go tell them what a big supporter you are? Maybe pick up some costly brochures?

(4,742 posts)I was thinking I should have grabbed a Rick Scott yard sign (now I know why there's a million in front of our office) and pretended to be a big supporter. Damn hindsight.

(81,238 posts)Glad you're here! Some of our fellow DUers have wicked senses of humor! I'm just wondering if titaniumsalute stuck out during his demonstration, or faded into the crowd? I'd imagine it's the latter, but then again, I have a pretty low opinion of rick scott supporters. I have a low opinion about most red state voters - what the hell is WRONG with them? What the hell makes them feel so compelled to vote for the Dark Side, especially when it's FAR more likely than not - to be detrimental to them and their own best interests?

(4,742 posts)I believe that the GOV didn't even get out of his motorcade. There were probably only about 30 or 40 people outside and about 15 of those were Crist supporters and a bunch of anti-Common Core people. Yeah I really stuck out. You don't see too many middle aged white dudes running around in a white sleeveless T in East Boca. I didn't hang out long either though.

(7,429 posts)He was in Port St Lucie on Monday and I could smell his stench a mile away. He tried to call people that were his supporters, but no-one was answering their phones. It was so funny.
My station interviewed him and I swear the man didn't blink once. It was so creepy.

(111,255 posts)For shame.
Anybody dressed like that in daylight is asking for it.
You can pass it off early in the morning as a walk of shame. Later on, it's just plain tacky.
They'd have had you arrested but a buck toothed halfwit in a wifebeater shirt represented a sure vote to them. Extra points for sweat and coffee stains on the shirt.
(Go ahead, crucify me for the description. It's quite a literary one, comes from innumerable small town theater groups doing "A Streetcar Named Desire" and dressing Stanley Kowalski the same all over, different pants but always the same shirt, a visual shortcut to his character)

(4,742 posts)That's an interesting history point on the "wifebeater" shirt. Never knew that.
And as for the bag of poo...I would have dropped one from my window...but it would have only fallen three feet into the flower garden below my first floor office window.

(5,526 posts)I would have paid to see that.
I looked up where that office is. But i went with an "incognito" window so Google didn't get the idea I wanted to see Rick Scott advertising for the next month.
All the news reports say Chris Crispy was with him today. I thought I felt a dark side in the force.
It turns out you are not too far from where I live. Man I wish I could have been there.
Thanks for representing.

(4,742 posts)...for two hours people were sort of gathering (including Crist people and anti-Common Core people.) I was on the phone when I heard all the hooting and hollering started which made me look at the window. I saw two or three GMC SUVs sitting out front. They were only there for 3 or 4 minutes and then gone. If Scott even got out of the car it was to run inside quick, say HELLO, and run back out to the SUVs. Then they were gone. So weird.
