Mary's Medicinal makes a cannibis breakthrough

Interesting article about a strain of marijuana that produces 40:1 CBD (the pain-killer part) to THC (the gets you high part) and the company who has enabled this medicine to be ingested through a transdermal patch. Unfortunately, currently only available in Washington and Colorado.

With large-scale cultivation of Mary's Healing Heart in expanded facilities and its transdermal patch application process that offers greater bioavailability than traditional options, "Mary's is prepared to meet the massive demand for CBD treatments," according to a statement from the company.

CBD has been shown effective in treating inflammation, diabetes, cancer, mood disorders (PTSD to ADD) and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. It is reported to have anti-epileptic, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic, anti-nausea, anti-rheumatoid arthritis and sedative properties.

I read that Charlotte's Web is only as high as 30:1 and currently comes in topical oil form so far. They have some other issues in distribution, but I agree...the more the merrier!!

The holy grail for me is a pain treatment that doesn't come with a buzz. Tramadol is partially successful in that regard but it's playing hell with my balance these days.
