I get what she's trying to do. To distance herself from the unpopular Obama and embrace an important industry that employs a lot of people in Kentucky.
Any voter in that state who adamantly loves coal, thinks coal is as healthy as baby food, sleeps with coal at night and wants all energy to be coal, is not going to vote for Grimes or any other Democrat. Fairly or not, the Democrats are now labeled as the party that is anti-coal, no matter what she says, she has that little (D) next to her name. She may say she is pro-coal, but the leaders of her party are not. So a militantly pro-coal voter is not going to be persuaded by anything she says.

(7,759 posts)a couple of schools in Kentucky and W.VA for specialized training in manufacturing solar panels for the nation. This would give the coal miner families something to replace what they fear they will lose as coal gives way to cleaner sources of energy.

(7,759 posts)made their wealth in the country they claim they love. Build the plants, build the schools, build the housing and all the opportunities that go along with a thriving community. Up to five years of training for free as long as they spend 5 years making the products we need to rebuild American infrastructure and alternative energy sources. They can tell the vulture mine owners (who really don't give a damn about them) to move on.
