Another family pet is shot by police.

Authorities who went to the wrong house in search of a wanted fugitive and shot a beloved family pet are refusing to take responsibility for their actions, according to a Michigan attorney who has filed a lawsuit against them.

"These officers came into the wrong house, shot this dog, told the owners they would take care of it and then never returned their calls," Royal Oak attorney Chris Olson told The Huffington Post.

Olson is representing Erica Moreno and Katti Putnam. The couple's 15-year-old mixed breed dog, Clohe, was shot in the face during the mistaken police raid, Olson said.

Clohe survived the shooting, but has had to endure three surgeries, and lost part of her tongue and a canine tooth.

"Clohe's not been the same since," Putnam told HuffPost. "It really angers me and makes me concerned for the system and how things work."

Here is another lawsuit that if won, will cost the taxpayers and not the police department at fault. If only lawsuits were paid out of the police pension fund, maybe we would have better outcomes? I remember a few years ago a big dust up with the Miami Police complaining about their pay and benefits. Looking back, I really wish that someone had attended that meeting and brought up how much money the police cost the city in lost lawsuits. Police departments need to be held to account just like everyone else. Maybe if there were more accountability the good cops would stop covering up for the bad ones.

Jimmy Armstrong, a neighbor who witnessed the shooting, wrote in a signed affidavit that he saw Clohe enter the backyard. He said she was not attacking or threatening any of the officers."

"[Hughes] shot Clohe for no reason at all," Armstrong wrote in the affidavit, according to the lawsuit."

Under the changes, animal cruelty would be considered a crime against society and a “Type A” offense

According to the FBI, the official definition of animal cruelty will be:

Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly taking an action that mistreats or kills any animal without just cause,"

4. I wonder how they are going to justify shooting a 15 year old dog.

Most large dogs don't live that long. That a seriously sick individual who shouldn't have a gun let alone be a police officer.

Just how are they supposed to "take care of it" anyway? You can't bring back a dead pet.
And yes, any mayor(or whoever is in charge) of a town who is not being held to the fire for the actions of the police cannot complain when there is no money in the budget for important things when so much is being spent in settlements or higher insurance premiums.

Nothing is safe anymore. This shit has got to stop. The police have become a far bigger threat than ISIS ever was or could be.
