Africa is a continent - the second largest continent on the planet

Europe is closer to Liberia than Liberia is to Southern Africa

So why is all of Africa being treated like one diseased country?

Listen world you must hate and fear the Continent of Africa while 'we' loot it.
Let's have your thoughts on why this narrative is being pushed.

We just aren't that interested in other nations, so we lump them all together.

outbreak, is being treated as one diseased nation. This is, simply, not true and the op offers no evidence for her claim.

Whitey would love to take the country and make a quasi usa out of it if it wasn't for the natives and the witch doctors

I'm a mostly whitey in case anyone wonders.

and without condescension (I tried REALLY hard), that Africa is not just a gigantic jungle with a bunch of poor, malnourished black people.

My father spends most of the year in Ghana (he took his retirement money and designed and built a house) and then comes back to the States around the holidays. Anyway, I don't even know how we even got to discussing my family, but then my coworker says, "They have electricity?!!"

I had to clench my teeth for a few seconds before gently countering the ignorance, which I really think was intentional. I remember how pissed off I was a child when watching those Feed the Children commercials. Those were the images presented of Africa... none of the culture, none of the customs, none of the architecture, none of that was ever shown.

It's the ignored "dark" continent until some oil or some fucking diamonds show up.

that the narrative has always been 'forests with Disney animals' in white countries but 'jungles' with wild animals barbarians eating one another. And of course 'we' needed Tarzan and Jane to 'tame' us.

Too many people on this planet are a higher level of crazy on steroids.

My son is in Tanzania right now with the Peace Corps. I joked with him before he left that I was picturing him living in the jungle, foraging for shelter and food! He has sent some great pictures. The people there have been so kind. He is eating well. His actual house and school does not have electricity (but some buildings on campus do)and water comes from a communal pump, but they are all working so hard to become educated.
I think people choose to ignore or just forget the fact that Africa is the birthplace of humanity.

restrictions to and from Africa. You claim a narrative is being pushed, but offer exactly zero evidence to support your claim. If you have some evidence, post it.

In the Americas, not so much. The Inca civilization, for example, made certain all had sustenance, shelter and meaningful work.
