Halloween fun or inappropriate? Pittsburgh man’s over-the-top decorations (warning - pics)

http://www.wpxi.com/news/news/national/halloween-fun-or-inappropriate-pittsburgh-mans-ove/nhgGr/?icmp=cmgcontent_internallink_relatedcontent_2014_partners1

A Halloween display in Pittsburgh is causing quite a controversy.

A man in a small neighborhood within the Pittsburgh city limits has his front yard decorated with blood, plastic dolls and a cannibal bunny rabbit.

Some people in the neighborhood said the display is too graphic and they want it to be taken down.

>> Photos: You decide. Are these decorations acceptable or over the line?

But Joe Dauria said it’s all in good fun for the upcoming holiday.

Maybe have him put up an umbrella screening the graphic stuff from the street but most school aged kids out there really love the gory stuff, the gorier the better.

I know I'd have loved it.

LOL

sorry but as one who has their share of "ULTIMATE PERFECT PARENTS of ULTIMATE PERFECT CHILDREN" among my friends/associates, that gave me a chuckle.

My child, on the other hand, is nearly always on a leash. (Four-legged and hairy as she is).

And, no, I would never condone caging a child--obviously.... (if I REALLY had to say that)

I went this morning to buy some decorations and found them already picked over. But on the bright side, it was all on sale.

On a related note, we have a neighbor who put up "Christian" harvest decorations involving lots of corn, crosses, and pumpkins painted with "blessed harvest." I'm halfway tempted to ask her why she's conducting a war on Halloween.

that got all the attention.

There'd always be a house that gave out excessive treats, like whole boxes of chocolate covered cherries. Now THaT would be the talk of the neighorhood.

How things have changed....

The severed limbs and such cross the invisible line between "whole family fun for Halloween" to "the stuff of haunted houses."

Not something that is or should be illegal, or even immoral, but probably a bit much for a young trick-or-treater to see.

Move that sort of stuff to the back yard and keep the fun, younger stuff out front for the little kids.

but those decorations are definitely for mature audiences. Why would anyone want to scare a bunch of tots with that stuff? Scared kids cry, so what's the thought process of anyone who thinks that the excited little girls and boys in their princess costumes and spaceman suits will find blood and gore entertaining!

When we were more youthful,we did two separate events with the early evening version designed for kids, and then about 8 or 9 my DH and his crew would switch out the sets to the spookier adult version for our teens, their friends and the neighbors.
