Here's how embattled Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback diagnosed his political problems in an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody: I think they (the mainstream media) want whats happening in this state to fail, that theyre shopping for a factual setting to back that up because its working.
Um, no. While blaming the media is both one of the most common strategic moves and one that regularly reeks of desperation, in this case -- as in most of them -- what Brownback is saying is simply not true.
So why then is Brownback in so much trouble in a state where President Obama won just 38 percent of the vote in 2012 and is, inarguably, one of the five most conservative states in the country?
Maybe -- just maybe -- it has something to do with the massive (and massively unpopular) income tax cuts championed by Brownback and passed into law in 2012. Or a further reduction in the income tax in 2013. The combined effect of those two cuts was a more than $330 million budget shortfall in the state and the downgrading of the state's credit by several major rating agencies.

(43,049 posts)after all, the media's function is to make Brownback look good, not to even mention his idiotic policies that have cost the state millions and gotten negative returns.
The media is only supposed to do that with Democrats.

(51,076 posts)The media is at fault in many cases but not in sams case for sure. Sams tried and proven failures of a policy is at fault with him
The m$m has us in a mad dash for everything that is going wrong in this country/world today. It all can be laid at their feet. If we don't get the control of our M$M out of the hands of corporations and arms manufacturers we will lose whats left of our democracy. Not much stands between us and a theocracy today and if you want to see some crazy ass shit come down let it continue on the path the m$m along with their corporate masters and republiCON party has us on.
