Happy raping, murdering, enslaving, genocidal pedophile day!

H/T Boing Boing for these apt descriptions of Christopher Columbus. As well as this toon by The Oatmeal that shows the REAL Christopher Columbus that is censored from American schools. No one DARE portray Columbus other than a brave explorer who made America America.

He was a figure of world historical importance. His actions changed the world forever. He led the way to a truly global society, for better and worse.

He was basically an imperialist tool as so many historical figures were. Many of us were raised to revere him. Finding out we were brainwashed sort of makes one focus on all the things we weren't told.

Both sides of the story.

We run the risk of hearing assholes tell us how much black people loved and needed slavery.

Teach the children the entire history. How else will they know to avoid repeating the mistakes of previous generations?
