The Sodomobile -- and a visit to Trent Lott's home, as well as a bit of fun with the Westboro haters, was for his series "The Awful Truth."

Moore looks very young in this clip.

He was one of the worst homophobes for a long time. He was known as Senator NO because of the fact that he always voted against AIDS funding, until Bono talked him into it somehow one time close to the end there. He still hated gay people even then.

FYI: it wasn't ACT-UP, but a subsidiary of ACT-UP called TAG (now formally known as Treatment Action Group) who organized this amazing action.

Try as I may, I can't hate anyone. Not even some of the shameless trolls on this board.
He probably had some serious psychological problems that he never worked out or had a hole where his heart belonged, and he hurt a lot of people as a result. Unfortunately, our system seems to reward this sort of sociopathic behavior if you happen to be privileged.

Please don't try to equate the two. It demeans those people actually suffering from mental illness.

He wasn't a sociopath. There were lots of people he cared about, and lots that he didn't. He was a bigot and an asshole. Nothing more.

Wed Oct 15, 2014, 06:17 AM
Oct 2014

He was practically the founder of the idea that 50+1 is all he needed
He was the only Senator that would hire one of the University students who had to be lead into the University in Mississippi then turned around and used it as a shield against his appeal to unhappy whites

He was an ass and a prick. Beyond that, he was an opportunist which makes him worse than someone like Lester Maddox or Marvin Griffin, men who truly believed in what they said and pursued their racist agendas

a pictures as "hate?" You might need to pace yourself if you see that as hate, because what the GLBT community has to put up with from people who think like he did is much worse, as in raped/beaten to death worse. The mental illness comment was way out of line too.

Jesse and Dot had three children: Jane, Nancy of Raleigh, and Charles Helms of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Charles was a nine-year-old orphan with cerebral palsy who they adopted after reading in a newspaper that Charles wanted a mother and father for Christmas. The couple had seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

we were touring a college in NC that had offered her a scholarship. Unfortunately their activity center was named for Jesse, and she whispered to me, "Mom, if I come here I'm going to have to give that plaque the finger every time I go in and out!" She ended up not going there, but for other reasons.
