TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa police arrested a woman for D.U.I. Monday after they said she ran a man off Highway 75, then high-centered her car on the cable barrier. This comes, after two other D.U.I.'s and other arrests.
Instead of being remorseful, guilt-ridden or crying at the scene, police said she laughed all the way to jail.
Police said Willissa Harris failed all six field sobriety tests after crashing her car Monday near Highway 75 and 41st Street.
---snip---
A lot of people in a jam like that might cry on their way to jail, but, instead, the officer noted in his report, she said "she had fun doing this (causing the wreck) and that when she was released, she was going to do it again, all while laughing."

Apparently it's all on the dash cam too. Good luck explaining all of that in court.

I have no tolerance for drunk drivers.

After the first offense, though, penalties should get much more severe.

(12,778 posts)"Records say in August and September of 2008 she was arrested for D.U.I., then, three months after that, she was arrested for selling cocaine.
All three of those cases were bundled together and instead of going to prison to serve her five-year term, Harris was given a chance to go through Drug Court.
However, Harris flunked out after she tested positive for drugs nine times, didn't show up for drug tests seven times and got arrested for going AWOL twice.
They sent her to prison to do her five years, but, she was released six months later."
And even more.

(966 posts)that would SWEAR they weren't drunk that would fail a breathalyzer test. As Jackie Gleason once said "You're always more drunk than you think you are"

(13,584 posts)I got pulled over because I had a headlight out. What got me the field sobriety test was having four cases of beer on the passenger side floorboard. That was all close to expiration date stuff my bosses at the beer distributor let us have either real cheap or free. I'd been taking bong hits and playing video hockey with a neighbor buddy for hours. This had to be 15 years ago or so.
The cops see the beer and ask if I'd been drinking. Nope. And I tell them that I don't drink. I point out that the only package in the truck that was actually missing any cans is a half-rack of O'Douls no-alcoholic beer. I really didn't drink at the time. Then I tell them I work for the distributor and am taking all the beer to a buddy and they start asking questions like I stole it or something. I then point out that almost all of it has price tags still on it. It doesn't come that way, that proves it had been in a store and was pulled because of dates. Then I tell them to call my boss right there and ask him if it's okay for me to have all that! They know him, it's a fairly small town.
I still get told to step out of the truck. Now they are looking me over real good and see that my eyes are bleeding! I tell them allergies are killing me. Of course they still want to get me so I have to dance for them and follow the little light with my eyes. I pass with flying colors! The thing about weed is, you can do all that stuff just fine, even when stoned, though an encounter like that does cause you to lose your buzz! They were pissed that they had to let me go!
My point is, WTF is a field sobriety test for? Many times they smell alcohol on a guy, he admits to have been drinking, passes the field sobriety test and they make him blow anyway! Then if he is just a hair over the limit, he gets a DUI anyway. They tell us alcohol effects everyone differently. Are there not some cases where a guy at .81% that passed the field sobriety test is perfectly okay to dive? .79% and he'd go free even if he stumbled walking the line? I know people that stone cold sober couldn't pass those tests because of other impairments. They are alowed to drive.
Now, the way I understand it, if the cops get me like that one night, they can take me in and call in a doctor to evaluate if I'm under the influence of any drugs, take blood samples or whatever. All that after I supposedly proved my balance and motor skills were fine for their field sobriety test standards. It's because they can try and get you, whatever it takes!

(29,047 posts)Good. If you're going to endanger everyone around you, then you should at least enjoy yourself while you're doing it. There should be some benefit, in my opinion. Silver lining.
