If I were you, I'd be wondering if the hospital in my area could handle an infectious disease outbreak of any significance whatsoever. I live in MS and know first hand how few resources the hospitals in our areas have.

1. Ebola is a horrible disease. I would not wish it on my worst enemy.
I grieve for those who have it.

2. The media hair-on-fire hype is as we have come to expect.
"If it bleeds, it leads."

Maybe 'funny' isn't the term?
I dunno.

Sorry if you're offended.
Cheer up!

It would be plastic sheeting, duct tape and a shotgun to ward away strangers because the hospital here is uniquely unqualified to handle anything more difficult than delivering a baby or a sore throat, and I'd be concerned about the ability to deliver said baby.

You have to go ~50 miles to even think of getting appropriate care.

It is an awful way to die and in Africa many are dying from it as we speak.

Besides, it appears to me people are not joking about Ebola, but about the way some are overreacting.

On Wed Oct 15, 2014, 08:16 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

I was in Dallas last week end. Now I have a cold.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025671346

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

this is just over the top offensive at times like this. People are dying and more will be- DU is better than this.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Oct 15, 2014, 08:21 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I'm not especially worried about ebola, but this borders on making fun of the concerns and priorities of other members.
I suggest this may belong in the lounge at least.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Oh, FFS, the alert is worse than the post.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Sarcasm and humor on the net are very hard to do - and black humor even harder - but I think this post is meant to mock the over-reaction to the recent ebola cases in Dallas.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Ebola fear has gotten out of hand, this illustrates that.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Whole thread is gallows humor at best, tasteless at worst. I don't see a violation, though.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Oh ffs, trash the thread and stop wasting our time with bullshit alerts like this.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: What a stupid alert. I imagine some outraged Rick Santorum prude, all puffed up with indignation hitting the alert.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
